During a Thanksgiving Day phone call this morning we ended up talking about Christmas. I mentioned I was buying restaurant gift cards for some. The person I was speaking with said they were buying gift cards to Rodizio Grill, a steak house chain. For every $100 you spend you get an extra $100 in bonus certificates. There is a bit of a catch though, you can only spend $25 per quarter in 2017. I am not familiar with this place at all, like Joe Walsh would say, "ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice."

I am SO, SO, SOOO sick of this damn crap that quits working!! I pay good money and take care of my stuff, and this cheap chinese crap is just worthless. Dang I was pissed yesterday (my ET-732 did the same thing, even with new probes).
I went to the ThermoWorks site above to see if they had any sale price on their new "Smoke" (which supposedly has "pro" level probes, and I'm extremely happy with the quality/performance of my Thermapen). They do have a sale, sorta: buy five of them and get them $8 off.
That's gonna work for a lot of people, right? I have participated in a "group buy" on another forum, but we saved $200 each on some carbon-fiber mufflers for motorcycles; even then it was a hassle and barely worth it; I won't try something similar to save $8.
This morning I swapped the probes on the Therm Pro, to see if it was the probe or something internal (as it was on the Maverick). Everything's working now
I know I'll eventually get a Smoke, but its not a pressing priority right now; I'm sold on the wireless monitors however, it's amazing how fast a quick-cooking piece of protein (turkey, pork tenderloin) can zoom up to, and past, the ideal temp; watching it from the recliner is SOOO nice._____________Tin soldiers and Johnson's coming...

@Botch I have the smoke, and love it, but don't be fooled by "pro" series probes. They are no where near the K series quality. They are very thin and easy to crimp up.
I would buy again, but wanted to give you a heads up.

I appreciate that. Are the "K" series also something offered by ThermoWorks, or somewhere else?
I have no problem spending extra to get decent equipment. Again, thanks!_____________Tin soldiers and Johnson's coming...

@HeavyG - I was going to get one of the ornaments, but then I read the reviews over at Amazon. Seems the hat has a penchant for looking up the Angel's skirt."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

There they go, phony reviews againLouisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
