Just got back from a watch party for the USA match at the local United Soccer League (3A equivalent to MLS) home field on the "big screen" with a few hundred fans.  Great win.  ⚽️

The first 14 minutes are a not-great-looking enchilada recipe, but then Sam, Max and Chance take the "Paqui Chip Challenge", and completely get fried.  When Sam looks at Max and yells "YOU did this!!" with the same pain, hatred and venom of a new wife giving birth at her husband, I just die laughing!
My last office Xmas lunch, we were all offered this challenge, and only one guy, a Marine veteran, ate a chip.  He turned a lot of different colors, exuded bodily fluids in many places, taught us all a few new words, and then had to hit the bathroom.  After 20 minutes or so I asked if we should check in on him, my boss said, "He's a Marine, he'll be fine".  He eventually returned, and was Not Happy.
How the chip's manufacturer hasn't been sued, I have no idea.

Friday night- The high point is Cape Verde advancing to the World Cup knockout round.  Too bad they get Argentina next.

LOL, @Botch, I'm pretty sure you posted it originally.  Or you may have mentioned it, and then I posted it, because I have actually made those enchiladas, and they're really pretty good.

Friday night and the warmup fireworks shows are about to begin in around 40 minutes.  Teeing up a great celebration for USA 🇺🇸 250 tomorrow.  I will be local focused punting the "look at me deal" in DC.

    4th-related!
Watching a celebration on PBS that looks like it's at the Capitol, but they show fireworks over Mt Vernon so I'm not really sure.  Various music acts, mostly patriotic, but then they cut into a mini-set by Chicago!  Saturday in the Park, the end section of Feelin' Stronger Every Day, and 25 or 6 to 4.  Lee Loughnane appears to be the only original member left, pretty sure the trombonist was not Pankow, nor was Bobby Lamm there...  :s
Also looked like the horn parts at least were pre-recorded, killer trumpet phrase while Lee was clapping his hands.  Glad I lived in a certain period of US/music history, but it's all changing now... sigh.

Indeed, other than fish'n'chips (heavy on the 'n')  And of course roast beef.

So how's your 250th birthday going?   I can't remember ours, it was quite a few years ago.
Great that you're forging ahead and thanks for ending all those wars and making everyone richer, by the way.

Given we have no 'British' I marked the day with tandoori chicken.  Yes, I know colonialism is unmentionable now, and sorry for that.
But how's the Venezuela thing going?  i hear there's a delightful island just past Iceland too.

Other girls may try to take me away

@CPFC1905 - Great commentary...As long as one focuses on local activities, this day is going great.  Distance and shielding from DC is a wonderful thing.
    Happy birthday USA 🇺🇸 250!
P.S. Thank you to your predecessors for jumpstarting this country!

Quiet evening with no late World Cup matches.  At least a double-header Saturday.

All quiet here.  Highly politically charged smoke exported (no tariff for now) from the GWN has not reached here in flyover country just yet.  We are ready, the never used fall-out shelters from the early cold war days are good to go.  Upgraded with air scrubbing equipment and UV lighting to pretend the sun is with us.   B)
    Happy Friday!

Plenty of smoke here today, I don’t recall smelling smoke in 23’ but it was strong today.

Smoke free here finally. It was pretty bad here the last few days. Now only real campfire smoke to smell. This could change. We have a strong north wind at present.
