It does. Dildo is a town in Newfoundland, and that shirt is from the Dildo Brewing Company. -
I've only purchased one new car in my lifetime, and it came with one big downer that I wasn't prepared for. It came with a multi-year, quarterly free CarFax report, delivered directly to my mailbox. I tend to buy vehicles and drive them into the ground before replacement, resale value be damned, and I already knew a new car loses so much of its value as it's driven off the lot...Begger said:If I bought a new car? It wouldn't be new.....
But to see my new car's value, printed in black and white, 3 months later... damn, that was a gut punch. Wish I'd never gotten those reports.
On the happy side, that "new" 2008 has only been in the shop for PDM and two recalls, over the last eight years, and I don't anticipate buying another car in this lifetime.
I hear you about difficulties in finding replacement chips/electronics; I had to toss my first KitchenAid blender, because the small touchpad was no longer available. But, I often wonder if, with increased miniaturization and AI, there won't be a day when we can "print" our own replacement electronic gear, like we do with 3D printers now for hardware issues.
EDIT: Oh yeah. This morning after finishing a news program my Apple TV suggested what looked like an F1 race, I clicked on it, and it was pretty good but the cars all sounded like R/C cars. Turns out it was "E Prix", or Formula E, which I hadn't heard of before. Looks like Formula One, but all electric, and it was kinda fun to see the drivers watching their battery capacity hit 3%, 2% then 1% when they had fewer and fewer laps to go. Didn't look like any of them did a victory lap!

Only two fun cars - the Camaro and the GT3. But more to come, I have no doubt. I think he aspires to become like a neighbour of his, as well as his F-I-L.lousubcap said:@GrateEggspectations- How many rides are currently in your B-I-L's garage these days?
BTW-Dildo brewing company has a nice ring to it...
Wondered if anyone would catch the shirt. Never been, nor had their beer, but I’m sure the marketing opportunities with a name like that are endless.

Nice, @GlennM. Looks like a hazy IPA. Not too late if you regret missing the shirt. https://dildobrewingco.ca/products/mens-ts

Reason for not buying new? Car manufacturers continue to make repair more and more difficult.Botch said:

A test?
Ask dealer how many full time mechanics VS sales. Lots of cars per mechanic is, IMO, not a bad sign. But rather how much repair the car needs.
I fixed my Sis In Laws 20+ yr old Kitchen Aid. And after disassembly and 'fix', I still couldn't tell you what I did only that it has continued running for another 5 years.
Just an example? Car 'X' throws a 'code'. Problem can either be some inner transmission part OR the 'whole thing'. What ever happened to fixing something? BTW? Car ran fine and there was no way to delete error code.
A friends Mazda was having 'phantom presses' on touch screen display, even when car moving which is supposed to null that feature. Dealer wanted about a grand for a new display. Simple fix? disassemble and remove screen. Thats about 8 or 10 screws / bolts. UNDO a tiny Ribbon Connector. put back together.
Done. And the rest of the lies or misinformation is too much. The common one? Your shocks have a leak. Or whatever. I'd be careful! And god help you IF you get a cat converter stolen. I fixed MINE for about 950$ in parts, including BOTH sensors and a new fitted cat convertor and all the gaskets and specialty hardware. Dealer labor for install? About 150$. Seriously. They had wanted 4 Grand if I had just dropped it off. Good times! -
BTW? Want a Porsche? Look into the 912. Some terrific value, fixable and won't break the bank.
The 60's take only had 90hp, but was in a fairly light overall package. Still well regarded -
Was a good ride. At 650hp and 650 lb-ft stock, it’s pretty wild.

What are you thinking Ferrari? If you make it ugly enough people might forget that it's electric?
