  • Finally tried the brisket chili that everyone raves about on here.  Let me tell you.  I have been missing out. I used some left over brisket we grabbed at Coopers on our way home that ended up getting frozen.  I will use this recipe going forward for all of my versions of chili.  No more packs from the store.  It had such an amazing flavor.  I forgot to take a pic of it dished up.
For the ultimate chili game changer, try adding beans.
I forgot to mention that I cooked some on the side and added them to our bowls.  For tonight's left overs, I am going to drain a can and add them.

Sounds absolutely perfect now!  My mouth is watering just looking and thinking about it.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Tonight dinner got a bit out of hand, but was fun. Made a sesame fried chicken with homemade breadcrumbs, roasted salsa, a Serrano corn, crème, and a Serrano/jalapeno/onion/habanero purée.  Took about 4hrs and was chaos 😂. It was fantastic though. $6 in chicken made enough to feed a small army.  Really like Food City - it is a grocery store chain in predominantly Hispanic areas.  You know it’s going to be good when they sell habanero by the pound, chicken hearts, chicken back pieces, cactus, and many other “non-.traditional” food/produce.  Prices are fantastic too.

  • So much to like about your post, @Ozzie_Isaac.
Ambitious menu. New store discovery. Cheap eats. Peppers.

I noticed a few of your recent cooking posts feature a cooking show on the computer. Presumably, that’s not an instructional video about the recipe, because you’ve got the cookbook open. Taking in some cooking tv while you prep? Master Chef? Hell’s Kitchen?

Agreed. Not my favourite of clean-ups though. 🙃

@GrateEggspectations good eye!  It is Australian Master Chef …. Usually have it playing in background while cooking.  It is a very good show, limited personal
drama, positive supportive judges, good little demo/how to sections, and lots of inspiring ideas.  I highly recommend it if cooking competitions is something you enjoy.  Plus I learn lots of fun ways to say things … now I only say capsicums when I am talking about peppers.

@fishlessman pretty sure only thing not used was a stick blender 🤣🤦🏼

Haven’t seen the Australian version, but we’ve caught the U.S. one. I also appreciate how it is more focused on the cooking results and less on the personalities. Really wish they disclosed more about contestants’ approaches to the process of their cook. I cannot count the number of times I have heard “finesse” on that show!! Did you know Ramsay also has a “Hotel Hell” show? The guy has built an empire. And why does he always feel the need to get naked on his shows?!

I like his Kitchen Nightmares show - British one is better.  Less yelling and stuff.  People like him never know when to stop.  They just can’t.
