OT - For Car Lovers: Some Recent Exotic Spottings

I came close to that but thankfully just needed three strong friends to lift me over the culvert and back on the dirt road. Glad you lived to tell the tale!

It’s fun when you see the asphalt 2 inches from your left cheek bone then climb out where the windshield used to be. The first person by was my boss by coincidence. I asked him to radio our office manager for a tow truck. I also refused to wash the blood off before my Dad got there. A couple of small cuts, wrist and head.
-
Sounds like a super cool washout. Would have never called my folks to mine due to fear of the punishment.
-
I'll make this IT for a while.
Ford Flathead was IT for quite a while. When I was in HS, I even had a ride in (if memory serves) like a '52 mercury...... The photo shows what I believe are a PAIR of downdraft Stromberg carbs....and the probably very collectible EDEBROCK heads.....

Sold the Datsun 1600 and bought a new Blue Datsun B210 when I got married. When folks asked what color the car was my response was 'blue and rust'.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

Caught a glimpse of both a brand new 911 Turbo S and brand new Mclaren in a driveway last night. Didn’t snag a photo because there were people present, including kids. Next time.

We were in Newport RI a week or so ago and there was a Bugatti parked at a mansion down the street, and a guy taking pictures of it. I’ve heard that’s a thing, pay a guy to take pictures of your car when you travel. Unfortunately I did not take pictures of a guy taking pictures of a car so you’ll have to take my word for it.South of Columbus, Ohio.

That black boat in the last pic runs about 180mph.lousubcap said:Love the speed! -
You've gotta be skilled to run at that speed on the road, never mind the water.
Never been close to that in a boat. I guess smooth to a light chop would be the preferred setup. No wind as well. But I have no clue the preferred setup.
He!! of a ride regardless.
Related, I have attended and totally enjoyed many Unlimited Hydroplane races in several venues. Lucky in that a yearly event is around 50 miles up the road on the Ohio River (Madison, IN).
Nothing further regarding the need for speed.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

Who'd'a thought a vehicle I owned in the early '80s would now be considered exotic. Also owned one in the middle '00s when in Indonesia.WeberWho said:

Not an exotic car spotting, but not worthy of its own thread. Today I listened to the weekly “Waveform Podcast” and learned that Marquez Brownlee (the founder of that tech reporting group) finally cancelled his order deposit for a Tesla Sportster. He gave them a deposit for $50K, eight years ago, and finally gave up waiting on it; he got $45K back per the deposit agreement.
His cohorts did a quick look at the math, and if he had bought $50K worth of Tesla stock eight years ago, instead of a deposit for a promised vehicle, it would be worth $748K today (and this is after all the “deflation” following the Cybertruck release/DOGE manure).
A few lessons to unpack in all that. I did learn a similar lesson myself, at a much smaller $ level by doing a two “Go-Fund-Me” projects. I did eventually get a final product with one (a book) but it was 3 years late; the other was a throttle lock (crude mechanical cruise control) which I did receive, but the two entrepreneurs who designed/built it didn’t understand galvanic corrosion, and it was inoperable after a few months. Live and learn.
And I did see a gorgeous exotic today, in a Maverick gas/conv station of all places. It was a pre-F-type Jag convertible, white with tan top and interior, lotsa chrome, very close to this:

Tangentially related-periodically I have been attempting (key word) for the past six months to rent a convertible in San Antonio and Tampa next month with no joy. Tried three different rental agencies and then declared victory.

Saw something that caught my eye in the neighbour’s garage this afternoon…. Ferrari “12C” (12Cilindri). May check it out tomorrow, in which case I will post pics. May even get out for a rip.

You definitely live in high roller country. You have to be vetted to even get close to that. And you have to have a great amount of disposable income. NA for the win! Around $500K out the door.GrateEggspectations said:Saw something that caught my eye in the neighbour’s garage this afternoon…. Ferrari “12C” (12Cilindri). I did submit an email request to Ferrari regarding this model. All in good fun. Perhaps I'll get a response. (not expecting one.)Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. @lousubcap
It’s a 2025 with just 300kms on it, most of which were racked up on the drive over from Montreal.Sublime fit, finish and growl - as you would expect. Was offered a test drive, but had a meeting to run to. Next time.

Wow, just wow! What a ride. Better to be lucky than good, right there. As above, meeting could wait.
Interesting blue warning light "Low tire temperature. Drive with caution." That's right out of racing concerns.
For us pedestrians tire pressure is the best we can get.
Next time a pic of that 12 C engine??Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
I found that warning odd also. Just advising that the tires aren’t yet sticky, I guess.lousubcap said:Wow, just wow! What a ride. Better to be lucky than good, right there. As above, meeting could wait.

Next time a pic of that 12 C engine??I, too, asked to see the engine. Apparently, the driver’s side latch wasn’t grabbing hold of the hood as assertively as it could, so I dissuaded the owner from opening her up. Didn’t want to force a return trip to Montreal. Will try to snap a pic of the engine and, hopefully, a ride review on the next round.(Edit: Didn’t know this, though you probably did - the emblems on the front fenders are not decals, but are hand-painted on. YouTube tells me they’re about 16 hours to apply. A $17,000 USD option.) -
Gotta admit I am not that deep into the Ferrari vortex but I guess if you can clear the several bars to acquire one of their top line rides you should/could option for the hand crafted badges.
Your neighbour (nod) is obviously in tune with the company. Congrats to him.

No matter where you run that car unless on a road course track you won't get close to the capabilities. And that's a smart/good thing.

He visited the factory in Maranello (not for the first time) just prior to taking ownership of the 12C.Back in 2022, he took me to the Orlando dealership where he got his Maserati. I think there are pics on here. Was a lot of fun, with some great sightings. -
I would gladly learn how to paint if I could make upwards of $1,000/hr doing it; would even be sitting on a comfortable stool.lousubcap said:…the emblems on the front fenders are not decals, but are hand-painted on.
