That is an impressive piece of work right there.  Congrats.

  • Looks incredible, @Ozzie_Isaac

    I am envious that:
    i) you pulled off such a cook; and
ii) you did it with your partner.

    Awesome.

I think my Thermoworks IR thermometer is on the blink.  Preheated a SS frypan to cook up some pork cubes, kept checking the pan temp but it didn't seem to rise past 220º or so.  I got nervous and poured in some peanut oil, and it started smoking immediately.
Smart Botch would've slid the pan to another burner, let the pan cool, dump the oil and start over, but Real Botch immediately dumped the pork out of the tray, thinking it'd cool the pan down.  I splashed pretty good, got my right wrist spattered, but at least was ready with my splatter screen.  Two dime-sized burns on my arm.
    Pork browned nicely.

Need to dig out the instructions and see if I'm doing something wrong (my personal Superpower is finding flaws in idiot-proofed products).  Happy Labor Day everyone!

its pretty typical for an ir to read really low on shiny surfaces like stainless. the emissivity settings dont really work well with shiny. i do us ir therms to find hotter and cooler areas on piping, water cooling jackets on tanks/vessels etc and with the reflection and curved sections you never get a great reading. big difference between dry cast iron and the same pan with oil in it, the oil shines

Playing stupid games - lawyers getting rich off this one.  Sometimes I wish I could explain “amicable” does not mean you get whatever you want, nor does stomping your feet and yelling make what you are saying true or reasonable.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I will say, I feel like a winner - sure in an ugly situation with the ex, but dayum life is infinitely better without her.

It must have worked sometimes in the past. So it’s default response number one. Just let the over priced lawyer earn his money and picture a spoiled toddler kicking and screaming.

It's pretty much that you need to do 4 times the work to prepare a lawyer to make 4 times what he is worth

Oh yes, spot on recommendations there! Apparently from real life experience.
Talking about brisket I tried it for the first time during my trip to VA/NC in August and it was great.
One day I will get myself one and try to to cook it.

Out getting dinner stuff for the Taylor Swift game tonight. I just got a call from my teenage daughter who said, in no uncertain terms, that I better not come home without Reeces and Midol. Should be a fun weekend.
At least she knows what she wants!  Enjoy the Traylor Swelce game.

Finished splitting and stacking. Here it is pre-cleanup .
Each pile is “double deep”.  So what you see is really X2.

Everything is coming together after all these years.  I have wanted a nice woodshed and planted the seed with my wife about 5 years ago. Now that we have about 9 cords of wood split and stack and under crappy tarps, my wife came out today she said she does not like piles here and there under “ratty” tarps. She asked me for ideas for the shed I had in mind.   He he he he….
Wow, that was a project. That’s a life time of wood for my fire pit.
