You mean just like everyone knew KR was a murderer after the first news reports?Ozzie_Isaac said:
Pretty sure the tagline says all anyone needs to know. This is a screen capture. That is what CNN chose to display. In many places CNN is on in the background with no audio. Airport, Dr. Office, Shopping Center, etc.JohnInCarolina said:
I understand that this was mocked because people thought CNN was trying to suggest that setting fires is still peaceful, but that's not actually what happened. The reporter shown there actually said that there had been peaceful protests earlier in the day, but that those stood in contrast to the scenes unfolding behind him.Ozzie_Isaac said:

That’s certainly why I don’t watch it.Ozzie_Isaac said:

My point was only that the screencap in isolation paints a misleading picture of what the network was actually reporting at the time. I don’t much care for CNN but fair is fair."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I could be wrong but I think that civil court reckoning is gonna be a bigger disappointment to the upset group than the criminal trial. Those who watched won’t be surprised. Those who watched the MSM will be shocked.nolaegghead said:Laws are prosecuted in criminal court, stupidity is prosecuted in civil court. -
Johnny Cash had some great insight.
Don't take your guns to town.
Tombstone too...
No one is saying you can't own a gun. No one is saying you can't carry a gun. We're just saying you can't carry a gun in town! - paraphrased from memory.Large, Medium, MiniMax, 36" Blackstone

They only need to prove negligence...did his conduct fall below the standard of care than an average person would exhibit?KR admitted himself that in hindsight bringing an open carry long gun into a chaotic mess was a mistake, and obviously the average person doesn't do that. Also, in a civil court, the type of evidence that is admissible, in his case his consumption of internet and social media activity which was suppressed in the criminal trial, is fair game. With all the bars lowered, what is amazing is how you're so sure about the results of that which hasn't happened will happen.

Agreed, but all those issues cut both ways. He shot people actively engaged in trying to harm or kill him. None of them was and innocent bystander that would maybe have a case. They were engaged in negligence themselves. But hey, we will see.nolaegghead said:pgprescott said:

He didn't say it but he implied it on a couple occasions and I think that was wrong to do unless there was direct evidence that he was self-proclaimed of affiliated with one of those groups.littlerascal56 said:

Unfortunately many others did say it and much more that was demonstrably false and repeated it even after no reasonable person should have done so. -
It will be interesting to see how the next protests/riots play out. Will there be more shots fired? Less shots fired? More buildings burned or less buildings burned? Time will tell.Snellville, GA

And that NPR article mentions their criminal and mental health records. Imagine what a defense lawyer will say about that in a civil court.nolaegghead said: -
Is it easier to justify killing them, because they had criminal records, and a history of mental health problems?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I think so. Because that makes it easier to believe they were going to kill him and not just rough him up. If they had no record and weren’t mentally unstable then it seems it would be much more possible they just planned to rough him up.Snellville, GA

That's a good example of a slippery slope.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I agree. It could very well be a slippery slope. Could there be some law changes on the horizon?Snellville, GA

No matter your view on the case, I think it has opened the door for an interesting show at the next major protest/riot event.Snellville, GA

The more interesting case is the current school shooting. Parents buy kid a gun, kid kills classmates at school, parents end up getting charged (rightly so IMHO), now parents beat feet and are on the run.Las Vegas, NV

💯 Agree on this. Very weird situation, especially since gun was bought Friday prior to shooting. I am curious to learn the facts behind this. Surface info looks really really bad.Battleborn said:The more interesting case is the current school shooting. Phone records showed that, when school admin called his folks about him searching for ammo on his phone, his mom texted her son something like, "LOL, I'm not mad at you, you just need to be more careful".Ozzie_Isaac said:

Was he using school wifi? Or just how did the school know that he was searching for ammo on his phone?
