Very cool. Thanks for sharing. And I love that Farmhouse skillet. If I didn’t already have so much CS and CI, I’d pounce on that beauty. If you don’t mind, report back after a few cooks with that waxx (sic) on.Lit said:Gave some carbon steel wax for seasoning a try. I sanded my old seasoning off the bottom and wet sanded down to 2000 grit then you apply the wax when the pan is warm then take a fresh paper towel and wipe it all off just leave the thinnest layer then bake in the oven at 500 upside down for an hour and let cool in the oven. This has 2 of the 3 coats done. The pan is freshly washed here no oil or anything on it. Stuff seems to work good and only uses a tiny bit. This container will do probably 50 coats.
What’s the metal plate on the back left? -
Will do. I have been using flax seed oil and it starts to flake after a month or 2 so sick of doing touch up seasonings. That plate is one of those copper heat syncs you put your pan on and it evens out the heat. You have to up your heat like 20% more than normal but it works great. Think it was called Bella copper or something like that.GrateEggspectations said:

how does one get this super power....my outboard just turned 30 and its not 30 years youngHe has carte blanche use of it. Started storing it at his house (about 100 yards from mine same street) because I like the extra space in my shop. He takes it out 10 times more than I do.So he's been putting some money in it. Got a new tach and fuel gauge (they had never worked for me) the other day, and got them installed.Waiting on a Minn Kota saltwater Riptide Ultera with spot lock idrive, etc
Last night we ordered (he paid) for all the installation stuff and battery. 24V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery (not cheap).I'm way to cheap for that. But he fishes by himself all the time. The boat will self launch, anchor off the dock and you park the truck and drive the boat to yourself to go fishing. GPS spot lock is great for fishing, iDrive is probably something he won't use, but it basically it's an autopilot.

i need that riptide with spot lock too
reel handy for deep water jigging. maybe your neighbor wants to borrow a boat in maine
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Yeah, hard to anchor over a spot in deep water, esp with wind and current. In shallow water, not so bad, but deploying and stowing an anchor is a chore. I get a ton of mud in the boat, shaking it off the anchor makes lots of noise. I need to get a cajun anchor (stick anchor). The spot lock will keep the trolling motor on one spot in any depth, and I hear in up to 7 kt current.Ideally I'd get some power poles, Raptors, Talons, etc. Stuff is just outrageously expensive.______________________________________________I love lamp..

i fished a week this summer on a bass boat with raptors, really nice but they do get stuck in certain muddy areas. friend with a bass boat, parked next to the house in a gated community
aka, what i call trailer parks up here.those trolling motor locks work nice in deep water, especially the ones that will follow a contour down a hundred feet and then spotlock. see lots of boats fishing with those on deep ledges for lake troutfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I imagine this would also protect underwater oil and fiber optic lines?nolaegghead said:Yeah, hard to anchor over a spot in deep water, esp with wind and current. In shallow water, not so bad, but deploying and stowing an anchor is a chore. Spot lock on our 29’ hybrid holds that beast in 1-2’ seas/swells offshore. Running an auto deploy I pilot. Love it
-
Oh, and what am I not buying right now? Whole packers….can’t find a brisket to save my life. Don’t want a trimmed flat people!
-
@Ozzie_Isaac Yeah, not dragging anchors is a good thing.Any disturbance of the seafloor is bad for sea life. I'm not sure small boats do much damage to underwater pipelines, but large boats sure do.Generally speaking they are marked with signs in my area.______________________________________________I love lamp..

Have you tried Lithium batteries yet?I've used a lot of lithium batteries but this is a new application.Should be way cheaper over the long run. Lighter, don't have the voltage drop you do on SLA. I would not bother using them for the main battery that starts the motor...yet.

Yeah, 72” ipilot. 36V. Running AGM batteries now (going on 8 years with them). Zero issues. Will be switching to Lithium when it’s time. Gotta buy 7!nolaegghead said:ColbyLang said:Spot lock on our 29’ hybrid holds that beast in 1-2’ seas/swells offshore. Running an auto deploy I pilot. Love itI'm guessing you're running a 36v system. Wow, that's almost unheard of for AGM. My buddy is into bass fishing and he said he's lucky to get a year and a half out of them. I usually get 2-3.ColbyLang said:

Now the 6 month wait. 160k btu out door Wok burner. One man shop. Orders parts from China, which takes forever, then he assembles them individually. Sketchy website that is hard to navigate, looks like a carry-over from Geo-cities, but owner is real nice.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

@Botch: Congrats. Would love to see it in action once received and fired up.

Just bought a new dishwasher. Not anywhere near as fun as the KBQ, but nearly as expensive. At least I am stimulating the economy.
