@The Cen-Tex Smoker that's what happens when you spend your waking hours on a ranch (yours) playing with Bobcats. Somehow your inner self gyro has gone walkabout!
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

What is your lighting method for the briquettes?Photo Egg said:
I either use briquettes or leftover lump when I cook with my Mini Egg.GregW said:I have used Kingsford in my egg, it does leave a lot of ash, but it works pretty good for burgers and hotdogs. If briquet charcoal has anything going for it, its the consistency of the briquettes. I have never opened a bag of briquettes and find the bottom 1/3 of the bag has been crushed into small fine pieces.
If I can locate the Franklin charcoal, I would like to give it a try.
I get more even heat.___________________________________

It can do all those things and more. @foghorn alerted me to a trauma case at his hospital where a gentleman was “run over by a Bobcat” with life threatening injuries. Mine weighs 12,000 lbs so I can only imagine what those injuries may be. you do not want to get run over by a bobcat. I’m glad we have wide open spaces out here to learn on.Langner91 said:

Yeah. The list of injuries that you don't want is long and distinguished. The bobcat can deliver many of them - and did so in this case. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

If it has Franklins name on it your food will taste better guaranteed. Same with the Jordans I asked for in middle school. Easily jumped 1-2 inches higher.alaskanassasin said:Not a Franklin fan or whatever but it bums me out when people sell theirs souls to make a little money. The smoker I get but briquettes? Man, the socialism is strong in here. I must have missed the business lesson that finding additional ways to profit off your life’s work became ”selling your soul”. I trust you guys will never look for ways to make More money based on what you are good at. You know, selling your souls and all
lol.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
So he would be a socialist if he said “no I don’t think charcoal briquettes are right for me or direction I want to take my company”? I’m confused

No- I’m saying begrudging a person like Ay-Ayron or Rachael Ray for making money based on their marketability and strengths is a socialist ideal.alaskanassasin said:So he would be a socialist if he said “no I don’t think charcoal briquettes are right for me or direction I want to take my company”? Don't forget Emeril, he is selling air fryers or something now. Make no mistake I would absolutely do what Ay Aron is doing lolThe Cen-Tex Smoker said:

Yep...who are you to put a cap on what amount of money they should make; or arbitrarily decide what is 'acceptable selling out' for them? The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. The way I look at things your name and your word is really all you have, if you want to put it on crap products to make money, more power to youSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

If he started pumping out crap briskets from washed up dairy cows and stamping the Franklin name on them I guess I’m a socialist if I don’t want to eat thereSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

For me it's a slippery slope. When you are known around the world as one of the kings of bbq I don't consider having your own line of charcoal or bbq sauce as "selling out" or even when he appeared on bbq pit masters. The line is crossed for me when you do something like Matt Pittman did which is after creating your successful brand you start hawking products for everyone like you are a nascar team and (yes I still buy his bbq rubs cause they work well.) then pretend to be humble about it. It's a free country so if he (Matt Pittman) wants to fine, but to me you lose credibility if you aren't careful. As far as Franklin, If he starts selling shamwows or yeti coolers with his logo on them, then come back to me.The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

You are now compare selling poor quality beef to putting your name on briquettes, that are probably a good product for all of us Kettle and PK cooks, is a sad comparison.alaskanassasin said:If he started pumping out crap briskets from washed up dairy cows and stamping the Franklin name on them I guess I’m a socialist if I don’t want to eat thereSaying Franklin is selling his soul just for putting his name on bags of briquettes…I don’t understand the logic condemning a man for it. Especially since you probably haven’t even tried the product. But we live in a world where anyone can say anything based on no facts.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
This is all pretty damn funny.
He built his name on bbq. None of this dilutes that. People **** about $3k smokers he’s selling, better that than $200 stamped metal smoker at Walmart, no?

Actually, Martha Stewart now owns the rights to all of the Emeril branded cookware, cookbooks, and food products (other than restaurants).

If you ever read the details on that case, there have been tens of thousands of people that have gotten off with a small fine for doing far worse. The SEC was out to make an example out of someone high profile, cuz "If we can put Martha Stewart in jail, we can definitely do it to you." It was kind of like what the FBI and DEA did to John DeLorean back in 1982--trying to bust someone high profile in order to scare people out of cocaine trafficking........except in that case, he was set up by the government, acquitted, and those who colluded to entrap him were the ones that went to jail.Botch said:

Again, so funny. How many have coughed up ungodly sums for yeti brand and don’t forget the stickers that go on the car advertising I’m a yet guy. But wtf, AF get his name out on a yeti and my god, he’s sold out. Is there such a thing as a yeti purist that sneers at the guy that buys the AF yeti?THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

All I know is that if I were Aaron, I’d sure be sick of bbq by now. I’d be like “maybe I should sell frisbees so I don’t shoot myself” as I vurped some brisket into my mouth.Joking aside, good for him- get it while you can.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. I'm the guy holding a beer.
