I rolled thru Lockhart on a six day brisket bender in June 2019.  Hit Salt Lick, City Market, Snow's,  Louie Mueller's, and Truth along with a few in the Austin area.  It was a two a day for six day road trip.  Incredible.  Ready to go again.

On the next trip head out a touch beyond Austin to Opie's in Spicewood and Cooper's in Llano.    All the bbq I have tried throughout and Cooper's is still one of my favorites.

If you ever read the details on that case, there have been tens of thousands of people that have gotten off with a small fine for doing far worse.  The SEC was out to make an example out of someone high profile, cuz "If we can put Martha Stewart in jail, we can definitely do it to you."  It was kind of like what the FBI and DEA did to John DeLorean back in 1982--trying to bust someone high profile in order to scare people out of cocaine trafficking........except in that case, he was set up by the government, acquitted, and those who colluded to entrap him were the ones that went to jail.  

Interesting, I didn't know DeLorean was acquitted.

I get a kick out of people making fun at Yeti on this board for it's high price point.   

This is the BGE forum, correct?   Assuming all on this forum either have a BGE or aspire to own BGE, their price points range from the multi hundreds to multi thousands of dollars.    Then there are the accessories, then there is the 'one size BGE isn't enough', which then comes with more accessories, etc.   Anyway, just a random observation.

 I don't have a yeti, I do have a egg and use it probably 3 times a week. If I was using a cooler 3 times a week I would probably get the best one I could find. That said, Yeti coolers are way to damn heavy for camping.

Yes, completely.  It took almost two years for the trial to take place, but he never had to take the stand.  The guys that set him up went to jail.  But by then, the company had been in receivership and destroyed by the British government. 

Before the cocaine bust, JZD was looking to move the company to the original planned location, an old air base in Puerto Rico.  So the Brits went into Ireland, took the body dies, threw them in Galway Bay, and crushed the fiberglass subframe molds so the car could never be produced again.  It was Margaret Thatcher, but ultimately he p!ssed off enough people at GM and disrupted the big 3 in Detroit that they had to get rid of him.

Back it up to when things started going south, they busted JZD's neighbor in southern CA for cocaine trafficking.  The agents that did it were hot to make a higher profile bust and worked with that guy to further their careers.  The [now] informant said he could get JZD involved if the feds gave him a plea deal.  They recruited two guys to help (one of which received a presidential pardon from Obama.)  They pitched the idea to JZD and he entertained it.  Them they pretty much choreographed all the encounters with him, even doctoring the hidden camera video......including cutting out they threaten to kill his daughter Kathryn if he backed out.  Somehow Larry Flynt (of Hustler) got a copy of the full tape and eventually turned it over, which proved the entrapment.

So while he wasn't necessarily innocent since he did consider the idea and started to move forward with it, he was found not guilty because they proved those agents and the dirt bag informant purposely set out to get him involved--and then told him they'd "cut off his daughters head and sent to to him in a shopping bag" if he backed out.

Everybody has seen all the jokes, and 10 second clip of him saying "it's as good as gold" then getting handcuffed.....not many know the true story.  The FBI, DEA, etc doesn't like this story getting told.

John Z DeLorean died in 2005 in Bedminster, NJ.  Up until 2003-04 he lived on a huge estate which eventually became the Trump golf course (the club house you always see in pics was JZD's house.)  I met him in summer of 2000 in Cleveland when we had 100 DMC-12's on the pier.  He stopped and looked at every single car there.  Then in 2015 I got to meet Steve Arrington, the one that was later pardoned for his involvement (he is the last surviving party in that f'd-up case from 39 years ago.)  My DeLorean just turned 40!

Another random observation (and I am not picking on you, I'm just bored):
I paid for my Large because it could do so many things well, by itself.  It's not the perfect steak searer, not the perfect smoker, not the perfect pizza oven, or bread baker, or the quickest hot dog griller, but...
It does a close enough job for all those things, is a lot cheaper than all those things combined, and takes up mebbe 5 square feet of room; that works for me.
 
The Yeti does two things well, by itself.  It keeps cold things cold, and hot things hot, for a long time (and it doesn't even have a switch; how does it do that?!?!?).  While it could mebbe keep a brisket warm enough to serve two days later, no one would ever do that.  And while it could mebbe keep 24 beers cold over ten days, I usually have to drive home before that to mow the lawn (and 24 beers never last ten hours days, right?).    
 
Just some silly thoughts from a bored loser, FWIW.

I like every bit of this.   I could absolutely care less how people spend their $.   You earned it, spend it as you please.    As a random observer on this forum I do laugh at how some folks cast aspersions on how others spend theirs.   Ultimately, who cares, they're not spending your money.

Right on.....And when people tell me, "you don't need that."  Yeah, well I didn't need to take 32 credit hrs a semester in college, didn't need go to grad school, and I certainly didn't need work 80+ hrs a week in 4 different jobs for many years either.....but I did, so I could buy the sh!t I want.
