BBQ Shrimp and Cheese Grits

My wife and I just got back from our first real trip to New Orleans about a month ago. One of the dishes we fell in love with was BBQ shrimp. Did my best to recreate it on the egg tonight and I was pleasantly surprised how good it turned out. Loosely followed Malcolm Reed’s recipe for this with a few minor alterations.

It’s definitely one you should try. The whole dish comes together pretty quick, under an hour really. I ran the egg at 350 the whole time. The longest thing timing wise was bringing the andouille up fo temp. After that, you’re talking maybe 15-20 min. The sauce is really pretty simple. This is the recipe I used more or less except I didn’t have his brand of hot rub so I used creole seasoning for the shrimp and added additional creole seasoning, dried rosemary, and hot sauce to the sauce.Srpete01 said:What temp and how long did you cook it? Looks great, I mean with that much butter I don’t see how it could miss! Do you have a link to the initial recipe?

Made it tonight. I liked it and will continue trying to improve on my first go.

For anyone interested, here are probably the two most popular recipes for BBQ shrimp on the Gulf Coast. Both are tried and true.
