How do you like the Templeton? I've ready a lot of negative press about the brand in general, that's it "Lab made whiskey" and that flavors are added so it doesn't have to go through the full traditional whiskey-making process, but haven't had a chance to try it.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -
You off the Blackstone train?ColtsFan said:RTIC's new King Disc. We'll see if SWMBO kills me. She'll be happy to know this will replace the Blackstone -
It's definitely been used less and less. I think I'll like having the added real estate and versatility the Disc offers while still giving me the ability to use it as a griddle. There's only 2 of us so the 36" BS is overkillDoubleEgger said:

Haven’t cracked it yet. Bought it for mixing old fashion cocktails based upon the proof. I’ll let you know. I had some other vintage from them that I thought did well in cocktails. Not for sipping.SonVolt said:pgprescott said:Some old standby and a couple new ones.

Cool. I've long settled on Bulleit for a solid relatively cheap Rye for mixin.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave

Yeah, bulletin is fine for mixing. I had one bottle of the Templeton 6 and was pleased. Mind you I only mixed it and it was around the holidays so between myself, my wife, and guests it didn’t last long.SonVolt said:Cool. I've long settled on Bulleit for a solid relatively cheap Rye for mixin.
I think there is a stigma because some felt hoodwinked in the past over marketing. I was just looking for a high proof rye to use in the drinks and I had never seen this one before. I’m sure I’ll choke it down no matter how it is. I’m always trying new stuff along side my favorites. You never know when you will find something you like. I’ll let you know. -
Agree on Bowmore being a bargain. I can get a bottle for about $55 CAD, which is a real bargain here. It is a permanent fixture in my cabinet.pgprescott said:
I’m actually a scotch guy before a bourbon guy. I’ve got some Lagavullin 8 and 16 as well as some Bowmore. I’m not sure I don’t prefer the Ardbeg but they are all great IMHO. Just came home from a Costco run. Time to start searching the forum on how best to do these so I don't screw them up tomorrow evening.

Meh. I mostly drink the rye in cocktails. On occasion I will sip a glass. Either way it’ll get consumed. Might be a live and learn moment.GrateEggspectations said:

That usually helps me out. 😜 -
I’m mostly an Islay Scotch man but I have a new found love for a good rye. I have a bottle of Minor Case I really like and have found a good Canadian Rye that I enjoy as well. I only drink it on the rocks or neat.

Got the Magfence II Friday. The magnets hold it very well to the table. You'll need to really push on it to get it to move at all. I'm going to make a 'sacrificial' piece to go onto the face (related to the blade). I already have some plastic that's tall enough, but only about 12" long (the fence is 15" long). Close enough for what I need. Just need to get some nuts to go into the t-slot style channels in the fence and then drill the holes in the plastic piece. I have a bunch of 1/4-28 allen screws that I could use for this. Just depends on the thread size of the nuts I need for the slots.Botch said:^^^ Sounds like you're already on top of it.
I was not aware of that Magfence, that's clever as hell. I built my own fence, basically just two boards joined at a 90º, of different widths to accommodate different-sized stock, then clamped to the table with two C-clamps; it's pretty fussy to set up.Large BGE with CGS Woo Ring, stone with stainless pan, Smokeware chimney cap, Kick Ash basket and Kick Ash can.Living free in the 603 (Pelham). -

Bought a new tv 58’ Samsung 7 series really nice and very good deal at Costco it replaced the 40’ Sony I bought back in 2008 :-)“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

A Brother wireless color laser printer, to replace my 2007 Brother wired B&W laser printer; I got tired of running down the stair and across the house to retrieve my b/w documents (first-world problems, again).
I didn't do my usual research before this purchase, but the sale price of $209 was expiring in about 90 minutes, and I've been happy with my previous Brother printer, sooo...“I'll have what she's having."

Actually, last Monday was. And I'm happy, as today (this Monday) the whole of Utard got hit bad with snowstorms, even had avalanche warnings in the valleys, something that hasn't happened that I can remember. Many schools were closed, and expected low-teens temps tomorrow morning.Sea2Ski said:Wondering if tomorrow is @Botch s last Monday in the working world....
