As the year of 2019 winds down with mere hours left, I thought it would be cool to make a thread for us to post pics of our favorite cooks of the year. An Egghead BBQ recap, if you will. While the dry aged A5 packer brisket I cooked this fall was more than awesome, I picked some other outliers for my recap.
1. Char siu Wagyu beef ribs; forbidden rice
2. Red coconut curry Wagyu flanken beef ribs
3. Honey miso garlic lamb ribs
4. Smoked apricot sourdough bread pudding with honey vanilla gelato
5. Adobo & fermented black garlic Wagyu beef cheeks
6. Char siu duck bacon smashburger; char siu marinated ground duck; homemade char siu duck bacon; grilled pineapple; Dizzy Dust aioli
7. Butter masala beer can chicken; confit brussel spouts and roma tomatoes; coconut rice
8. Buttermilk 'fried' chicken and red grit, cheddar and duck bacon waffles
9. Lamb shoulder mole poblano tacos on homemade plantain tortillas

Nice! I can't match your cooks by any stretch, but here are some of mine:
Lahmacun (turkish pizza)
\\
Turkey breast
DA ribeye katsu sandos
Hoisin beef skewers
CTM wontons
Brisket truffle mac and cheese"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -
Great thought. That said, your bar is off the charts. The below are representative of my efforts but I don' keep many pics. I will toss out a few of typical low quality but don't have any of the stuffed shrimp.
Top to bottom;
Caveman steak; SRF Black beef plate ribs; Salvaged paella on SBGE after LBGE went south; SRF black brisket; Moon pie (July 20, 1019) money shot for the win.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
This one was pretty good a Boston Butt rubbed in Albukirky Sweet Red and smoked with pecan chunks.
-
1. Beef ribs
2. Grilled peaches with vanilla ice cream and homemade granola
3. Brisket and burnt ends
4. cold smoked lake trout
5. Sourdough bread
these were the only photos I had on my phone, unfortunately I am bad about taking finished pictures.Mankato, MN - LBGE -
SRF Gold Grade Cowboy Ribeye was by far the best I did this year.
Large and Small BGECentral, IL -
I do not have the skills of many in this group, but here are some of our most loved cooks of the year.1. The all American Burger
2. Little Chef’s Pork chops with butternut squash
3. salt cured egg yolks with New England style pot roast served with pickled red onions
4. SRF tomahawk ribeye
5. Kamado “fried” chicken by Little Chef
XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2 -
This year I wanted to try to get out of my cooking comfort zone for a few meals.
I finally made scratch lasagna. I've been wanting to do this for years but have always put it off.
Indian Butter Chicken
Pho
Not really interesting but I finally tried a Tomahawk

@WeberWho the lasagna and pho really resonate with me. Yours (both) look outstanding.
And @smokingal - your cooks are both inspirational and aspirational. The presentation is always outstanding. Saveur aint got nothin' on you.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
I had some good cooks this year, but I think I impressed myself with the Mother's Day cook for caliqueen.
Shrimp, crab, scallop SV mousseline with saffron beurre blanc.
Hope everyone has a terrific year ahead.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

Lots of great chow in this thread. 2019 brought:
Fried gravyCarnitas
paella
brisket
fresh corn tortillasColeman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...

Thanks for the thread smokingal. I evidently take a ton of pics and it was pretty cool looking all the way back. A few of the memorable ones...
1) Thin ribeye sandwich
2) SRF ribeye vs local prime ribeye cap
3) Chicken, peppers, and onions rolled up and fried in the cast iron skillet
4) Australian wagyu brisket flat
5,6) Japanese A5 rib caps - 50th bday cook back in early August. A little goes a long way.
7) Bone in pork loin - picked this up at Costco for $17 and it might have been the best bite of the year. Definitely the best pork that we cooked.Wetumpka, Alabama

Too bad a year only has twelve months in it; there's a fantastic calendar to be made from this thread!_____________
