What are you cooking and how are you preparing for the National Emergency?

I created a national emergency today. I grossly underestimated how long the pork butt would take on the pellet grill. We went to the in-laws and brought KFC instead. Pork butt just came off tho and is resting. Midnight snack I guess.

I'll be honest,  this emergency has arrived at an inconvenient moment.  Having discovered my sub-optimal broom status I now have two things to worry about.

You can rely on your Brit compadres (oops, my bad - lets agree on brothers in arms & former rulers) to respond in classic fashion; limitless supplies of antipathy and drinking tea. 

We are well used to national emergencies as without fail every year it snows, sometimes as much as an inch and the whole country is paralysed.  

You might have noticed, though, that we are in the thrall of a futile and pointless contretemps of our own making.  Given that we have effectively started a fight with ourself, I feel that any support we can offer is likely to be only adverse to your cause.  

I will say that in your circumstance I would cook some kind of abomination derived from lemon sorbet and pork belly,  because they are my favourites.  And because meaningful weaponry is somewhat harder to acquire here, I'll grasp my faithful Newbery Five Star (Mike Gatting) cricket bat, circa 1990. As anyone who observed my opening batting performances of that era will attest - its in 'as new' condition.

Don’t know what is so Tin Foil about that statement, the guy admitted as much on national tv.

Don’t know what is so Tin Foil about that statement, the guy admitted as much on national tv. 

The clear implication here is that there were a couple of rogue FBI agents who decided to try and remove Trump from office simply because they didn’t like his politics.  If that’s really what you think McCabe admitted to last night then God help us all.

John would be a little more uptight if this happened 8 years ago while trying to remove the first half black President vs the first Orange one....

Interesting.  I've not paid much attention to this, as it's not worth much as a collectible or worth trying to fire as it may be dangerous for various reasons.

That said, it's interesting to me through the providence of custody.  Bridget's dad fought in WWII, ended up living with a Japanese family, who he connected to.  This was one of a number of items he brought back, some others were more interesting, although I won't list them here.

He enlisted at age 17, had to slump to meet the height requirements (6'7") and fought in one of the worst battles in the pacific theater.  He lived in Japan with a family directly after the war during occupation, came back, went to LSU where he met Bridget's mom. 

He graduated with a degree in EE.  Worked for Bell South and stayed in the reserve as a Marine.   Went back and fought in Korea.  At some point he was the colonel in charge of all the marine reservists for about 4 states, including LA. 

All the while, raising 8 kids and working as an engineer at Bell South. 

Old "Bogy" died about 10 years ago at a ripe old age.  He was larger than life. 

Bridget was "The Babe" - the youngest of the brood.  She ended up with a bunch of WWII weapons and items.  Her mom lives on today in her 90s. 

Some good stories there, although he would never talk about the combat, he was someone who believed in America, and treated all with respect and would give, literally, his shirt off his back to both an immigrant (2nd generation Belgian himself) or a 10th generation American from the before the revolution.

I consider this the zenith of what it means to value our nation as a collection of people working together for the collective good.

I didn’t go too deep on the Arisaka history, but what I did read was kind of cool to me.  They’re not rare, but there certainly was a distinction between the ones with the chrysanthemums and those that did not have it - not necessarily quality, I think it was more the mark of the emperor’s family and I think at some point in their need to make more rifles quickly, they stopped with the decoration or something like that.  Anyway, with that thumb safety sticking out the rear of the action and sitting right next to my cheek, I lost my nerve to use it anymore once the safety became loose.

Yes yes, how could I forget?  Strzok was SO concerned about the possibility of Trump being elected that, before the election, he did.... apparently nothing to stop it.  No leaks to the media, zippo.  In fact, the leaks out of the FBI to the media were pointing in exactly the *opposite* direction:

Because they were so arrogant and sure of their worldview that the possibility of Trump winning never entered their minds.

So on the one hand, you are referencing texts between Strzok and Page where they actively discuss the possibility of Trump becoming President, and on the other you are suggesting that they never considered the possibility of him becoming President.
