Amazing deal on Thermopen

It is a great deal. Competition is good.

That is the Classic ( old style ) not the MK4
Still a decent dealVisalia, Ca @lkapigian -
But you can get a backlit, rotating display, magnetized Lavatools Javelin Pro Duo for $45.89 ($53.99 less 15% with discount code EGGHEAD). Free shipping too. So far, mine is every bit as good as my T-pen.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@Carolina Q haven’t tried the Lavatools stuff yet, but maybe I’ll order one for Norah Grace’s comp box. Her mom/ my boss aka wife has stolen my MK4. She uses it all the time.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2

My original Tpen is still working, the later model, not so much. Not worth the cost to mail it back for repair. The Lavatools Javelin’s, both the 2” (over year old) and 4’ probe (3 months old) have been flawless.lkapigian said:That is the Classic ( old style ) not the MK4
Still a decent dealDelta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
There is no thermapen as good as the Javelun Duo pro. Especially the original. MK4 May be close but at twice the cost I’ll take the javelin duo pro all day.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

At least with Thermoworks you always know when they are having sales...because they send sales emails to you almost daily.lolThe Cen-Tex Smoker said:There is no thermapen as good as the Javelun Duo pro. Brother Tex, here is one that you will relate to. An analog temp probe bought from the now defunct Woolsworth in the late 70’s. It still works to this day. I use it simply for nostalgic reasons when cooking whole clod. I honestly don’t remember the exact price, but I’m quite certain that it was less than 5 bucks. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:There is no thermapen as good as the Javelun Duo pro. Especially the original. So all you Thermapen and Javelin users let me know when you get 40+ years out of them

First to market with a solid product does wonders. I have what I guess is a Thermopen Mk 4 (8 year old gift and no bells or whistles) and still going strong-only game in town then. Picked up a Javelin Flash sale thermo (no additional names) a year ago for next to nothing and it is every bit as accurate and perhaps only a fraction slower response. I know where the Thermopen replacement will be sourced provided the Javelin can continue to perform. FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -

The Mk4 is only about 2 years old.Someone posted a Massdrop a couple of weeks ago. I got two Javelin pros on the way just before Christmas, so I'm excited for that.NOLA

I appreciate the Thermapen.
But I've been very happy with my 20$ 'sticker' from Sur La Table and my still cheaper model branded 'Weber', sold at a home improvement store.
They are within about 1/2degree of one another which for something of 140 to 160 is FINE.
Quick enough response, too.
Made a pair of ~155 Prime Boneless Rib Eye last week.....Bacon wrapped, of course, with much of the rest of the grill devoted to peppers, onions and they whole thing was terrific.
Some left-over peppers in my Scrambled the next morning added a very good touch of smoked flavor. -
The thermapen is my most valuable cooking possession, and the most used.
