OT - rodent repellent

So, I have four Earthboxes up on my cooking deck, with beautiful bushy tomatoe, jalapeño, and habanero plants.  Squirrels and chipmunks have been tearing into my cherry tomatoes!  

Oh, ye of vast knowledge and experience, HELP!

ps: they laugh at the rubber snakes and plastic owls I put out there over the weekend.

pps: I have about an acre - safe margins for BB gun, but not my double-barrel 12 gauge.

    bucket trap for the chipmunks.   spread the seeds across the water, add a small board in the bucket and cover that with seeds as well

    yep,  the squirrels need to be trapped.  few years ago i was called in on relocating squirrels, caught about 30 in a week. they told me to drown those as well or face fines for relocating. the neighbor that called me in was horrified =) im not getting varmits in my raised bed,  they go after the bird seeds under the feeders

    On the serious side, if you don't have pets, Just One Bite does a great job.

    I had a customer with a snake skin hanging in is attic vent, he apparently put it there to keep squirrels out.  Not nearly as much fun as the squirrel catapult though!

    I tried that as a kid when they were stealing peaches. I shot one and hung it from the tree. Within an hour squirrels were eating peaches right next to him. I guess their attitude was “sucks to be you bro”.

    I have one of those “pump as many times as you want BB guns that also shoots .177 pellets.  Can’t find the pellets (of course) - have managed to plunk 1 chipmunk and 2 squirrels- doing it kinda sniper style, through an open window...

    Yes they can. Best loaded 1 at a time in a single shot or bolt action as they do not have enough power to function an auto load.
    My choice would be a nice 22 cal pellet rifle.
