AF short story -

I just picked up these today.... I love them Gurkha's -

Gotta be honest - I often don’t know whether to congratulate you or curse you upon seeing these posts. A cigar every evening or two is an enviable scenario, prompting immense envy within me.pgprescott said:
For my b-I-l’s upcoming birthday, I purchased him the standing stinky cigar ashtray herf edition - A behemoth of an ashtray (the world’s largest) with a bowl boasting a 17” diameter and 8 cigar stirrups.
Btw, in case any readers don’t know what a “herf” is....

@GrateEggspectations I should be at the gym instead but somehow the calm back patio calls me.
You are an excellent BIL! Nice!

I consistently (and very deliberately) get to the gym 4-5 times a week. The secret for me is doing it on my lunch hour, so as not to interfere with “patio time”, etc. Gotta provide some counterpoint to that cigar smoking and those libations, eh?pgprescott said:@GrateEggspectations I should be at the gym instead but somehow the calm back patio calls me.

Probably my last cigar for this year and part of next year. Looking to having bariatric surgery in January or February and you have to be tobacco free. Picked this one from my old stash from tears ago.

Good luck with the surgery. You can live vicariously through some of us. Cheers!Ladeback69 said:Probably my last cigar for this year and part of next year. Looking to having bariatric surgery in January or February and you have to be tobacco free. Picked this one from my old stash from tears ago.

At last years IA / ISU game my daughter was crushed by the late defeat. I had to hide my joy for my cousins big win! Hope to cross paths this year a few times.

Fantastic cigar! -

So, just because I figure the followers of this thread would appreciate it more than anyone else, here is a picture of the gift I’m about to give my brother-in-law.
Gotta say that I’m pretty jealous and wish I had bought one for myself.....
For the record, the cigar on the ashtray is a standard robusto; included for scale only. The ashtray really is that big - the world’s largest.

So do you like the Smoke temp gauge. I am thinking of getting one till my Meater wireless one comes in.SamIAm2 said:

@Ladeback69 - yes, use it for long, overnight cooks to wake me if protein temp or grate temp goes above my set points. It picks up thru concrete block wall and insulated wall without a problem. Oh, and I posted that photo during a long daytime cook in this thread as a poor pun of the thread title.

Are you thinking of using it to monitor grate and dome temps while using the Meater wireless thermometer?

I think your choice of beer and temp monitors is pretty high up on the lists.SamIAm2 said:@Ladeback69 - yes, use it for long, overnight cooks to wake me if protein temp or grate temp goes above my set points.
