Seeing Centex and Cali’s post reminded me about Salado, I’m really bummed that there isn’t going to be Salado Eggfest ...we need some other area get together.

38 years ago, I was 3. Yes, I did have to use a calculator to figure that out.

Even 4yo caliprince misses Salado. And he’s been to a few Eggfests.

We were just talking about this today. There was some talk about a gathering for Eggheads in Salado this year. Hopefully, it will gain traction next year. We’ll try to make it.

It would be more fun if we didn’t have to actually put on an eggfest.  Just hang at the Inn for the weekend.

Like Butt Blast or Brisket Camp.

    Just saying.

Totally agreed.  I am sure that there are enough cooking devices close enough to make it happen.  Some of them might even be eggs.

I agree but wouldn't it be more fun to do it in Austin? Or New Braunfels on the river or something like that? If I am involved in planning (which I do not want to do) There would not be a fest but there would be a big cook and it would not be in Salado. The best thing about Salado is Mickey. If he's not involved I would prefer it was somewhere else.

We need a get together somewhere near Austin. It should involve eggs, large offset cookers, a couple of Patagonia crosses, and maybe a cinder block pit that's about pig sized... We could possibly even rent a mobile wood oven for a weekend. A few folks bring their camp ovens.

I have no clue how to find a space to pull this off.

downtown Gruene on a Saturday with a concert at Gruene hall after, float the river Sunday. I bet there is a chamber of commerce group or something that would love to have a "cookoff" in Gruene.

I was thinking Eden's Cove instead.  Can we at least bring the mule?

(now going to spend a few minutes thinking about how a mule would configure innertubes to successfully float down the Guad)

Um, after about 20 beers somebody would come up with the bright idea of trying to cook the mule.

Thinking if we’ll be in Austin we have to “keep it weird” - or does that just happen by default?

    That ship sailed years ago.

But it I would prefer an Austin centric location.
