Interesting take but he has 2 stars in several places in Europe. He actually did pay homage to Ischia- It was all locally sourced and in his grandparents original home. It was Italian food- just too fancy for me. Had those same fish and veg ingredients all week they were excellent. Locally caught fish, zucchini blossoms, olive oil, etc. very good. Just not pre-chewed. And the Cig dessert smelled just like the train station in Napoli when i got off the Ferry the next dayNEKEgger said:As probably the only Italian citizen on this forum, I agree that Italy is a fantastic place! I would, however, never go to a Michelin star restaurant in Italy. They don't serve Italian food, and the food you can get just about any neighborhood restaurant is fantastic at a fraction of the price. The key is to avoid the tourist trap restaurants.
It was in our plan to hit up this place and we did. We definitely got our $1200 worth in jokes alone. All good

St Catherine of Siena, nice, that's my parish in Austin. I had no idea there was such a backstory on their patron saint.
Any chance you could bring a toe back?THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -

Working on it. There is a line for her body parts but I think that if I explain to them that I am American I will get preferential treatment.Legume said:St Catherine of Siena, nice, that's my parish in Austin. I had no idea there was such a backstory on their patron saint.

Pro-tip on getting her body parts: Don't tell them you're an American. I'll explain later. The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

I had a Cohiba fresh from Cuba last Saturday after eating butts and ribs with my bros. That is as close to tobacco as a desert that I want to come.bgebrent said:Cool stuff brother CenTex! Tobacco in an artistic desert, no bueno. Great trip for sure.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I read today that there are many saint parts scattered about. Saint Anthony of Padua has his tongue in a jar somewhere. We went to the museum of torture as a "fun" side trip in Montepulciano today. It was disturbing but way less so than any of the cathedrals we were in this week. We thought we were in for a little gallows humor at the museum but we all walked out totally silent and needed a moment to regroup. Then we went to the Catherdral in Montepulciano and there was way more morbid stuff- severed heads, crucifixtions, plague, tombs of dead important people in the floor. These people were sick.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

Cooking class. Handmade ravioli stuffed with spinach cut from her garden an hour before she came over and ricotta. Finished with sage butter. Chianina Veal roulade stuffed with sheep's milk cheese and prosciutto. Topped with fresh sage and pan fried in garlic butter. Salad made from the garden, wine made up the road by the owner of our house

And leftover ravioli tonight. Blistered tomatoes,
peccorino, pancetta. Maybe even better tonight.

Dude. So that's how you do Italy on a budget? You scrounge around in the dirt for food and make your own stuff? And then eat leftovers?
When I go to Italy I'm going to live large. I'll be dining at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill or some place that doesn't make me do the work myself.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"
