Are we talking prime prime rib or choice prime rib?

Not a thread post I would have tossed up for consumption even on a Friday-but your call.  There's still time to fix tonight.  Road trip  ;)

My life feels empty without a costco
I would move. I used to have to drive about 10 miles to get to one but now there's one about 2 miles away.
  • I received our cash back certificate from Costco today.  I may be able to salvage my dignity yet.  Beef back ribs for the ice storm.

I doubt it was "prime" prime rib, I've never seen it in our Costco. Just about all prime grade is reserved for restaurants. That being said I've never had a bad "choice" prime rib.

The only prime rib I see at the Costco near me is choice. I did pick up two Prime New York steaks and about 8 choice Ribeyes today. Steaks and Ribs for dinner party tomorrow.

Dude. I don't even know who you are anymore. Why even go to Costco. Please tell me you bought alcohol.

Excellent.  And I actually commend you for respecting your budget.

I suspect many here should do more of that.  I know I should.  But we're like a support group that all make it OK for each other to overspend on this stuff.  Of course, it is only money.

Our Costco regularly carries Prime beef, in addition to Choice.  The selection is not as large, but every time I've been there they had Prime Ribeye and Strip steaks, and Prime whole Ribeyes and Prime whole New York Strips.  The Prime whole Ribeyes are ~$10.99/lb.  Just lucky here I guess.

  • The Costco local to me carries whole Prime ribeyes and strips. I purchased a 17#er over the holidays. Cut it into 2 roasts and 2 steaks.
I don't have a membership.  Went with a friend. I need to get a membership for myself.

I buy the whole Prime Ribeyes, take them home and cut them into steaks.  For prime rib, I use Choice.  A prime rib expert here said he prefers less marbling for the whole prime ribs, and I found that I do too.

All the Costco's in Atlanta sell Prime grade rib roasts.
