That's great for preventing a thief from taking it, but doesn't it also make it inaccessible to you if you needed it?Dustin - Macon, GA

It's a safe, secure and responsible way to leave your gun in your car when you travel. There are still many places where it's against the law to carry. When this happens you are faced with leaving your gun in your car. Such as the hospital/University I work. Also very safe for Mickey because I know he travels with his grandchildren.dgaddis1 said:That's great for preventing a thief from taking it, but doesn't it also make it inaccessible to you if you needed it?
Mickey is probably one of the few gun owners who would go the extra step to secure his gun in his vehicle.
Nice job Mickey...Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
get one of these and you can track the bad guys down

I read the OP as "I keep this gun in the Tacoma 100% of the time" meaning he's not carrying it while out and about, but it stays in the truck, all the time, I assume in case he needs it while in the truck (car jacking situation?).Photo Egg said:

I'm sorry. I gotta think I'm from a different planet. The only guys I knew who felt they had to carry in their cars were dealers, dealers, and a mixture of both.
But I suppose a safe like that is maybe a little good.
Had a friend whose dad was paranoid. Had way too many guns, most quite illegal. The friend didn't know what to do with them. Lived next to an apartment full of junkies. For awhile, kept them in his auto trunk. Was fortunate he had stashed them in a friend's garage when he was mistaken by a bar tender for a cop killer. Lying half stripped on the pavement, had the guns been found in his trunk, end of story.

Sometimes carried from truck to xxx or when going to a part of town that I think needs a firearm I will pocket another . Much better near me than in a gun safe at home.dgaddis1 said:

Nice job Mickey...Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
Had a similar setup in my Tundra....Now I have a smaller car with a smaller console -- not enough room for a safe. Bummer...
Glad to see you are carrying responsibly!

Does not mean he keeps it in the vault 100% of the time nor did I imply that but my post was carry related in general. There are times when just keeping a loaded gun in a glove box is not smart. Such as having children in the vehicle.dgaddis1 said:

Pull up Tuffys site and take a look. I have had the box in my bed from when I bought the Taco in 2014 and no idea they had this console box.

I am interested in how you like it? I've thought about it, but not sure I wanted to invest in having one installed, unless that wasn't too difficult and I could do it. I bought a small one with a cable that I lock it with, but it's a bit of a pain in the arse. Would like one in the center console (I have Tundra). Thanks.
P.S. I unlock mine when I'm in the vehicle driving and have quick access to it. only lock it up when I leave it in the car. Must admit, not religious about that part.

The Tundra one is the first one I saw. Much more room still in the console.stevez said:I am interested in how you like it? Had my parts manager put it in (about 20 mins). No problems at all. No drilling.. I just am flat un-handy and much easier for him or service manager to do it than fix what i screwed up.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). @stevez
I like it a lot. Would do it again. Thought the same about the small one with cable hooked on the seat bottom..
Will keep unlocked when driving.
Can get combo lock or key. I took the combo lock.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
I've been taught to keep any decals that has to do with guns/hunting off your vehicle. It's an open invite for thief's. Especially in places they know you can't carry

Easy access.

I wished. But in Texas it must be out of sight. Don't need to be licensed for carry in vehicle but at least a towel covered over it.GATraveller said:

I have a CC permit because my business is in the hood. You never know these days and I have a wife and three kids I like going home to every evening.

I have one I always carry but like has been said above, can be difficult to get to when sitting and in a hurry.
Ive got a buddy who is trying to work me a mount I can put on the ceiling of my SUV to toss a Sig MPX up there and lock it enough to keep a kid from playing with it and out of sight from your average thief. He is trying to work a panel to keep it out of sight too. (I wanted a pistol round and didn't want to leave a SBR in there)

@GATraveller did you use the clips or did you drill it in? I did that in my last truck and broke the kydex coming out of it one day.
