If you're only concerned at the federal level, perhaps we should back up a couple hundred years. States rights and all.nolaegghead said:As president, I wouldn't meddle in tax breaks at a state level. Am I happy 800 people got to keep their jobs? Sure.
Are suckers going who don't understand the larger picture or the magnitude (or lack thereof) of numbers going to gush over this, like it's just solved a larger problem without causing an even larger one? Case closed. (hint - you).

I wouldn't have made that deal. I'm opposed to those sort of shenanigans/blackmail as a matter of public policy.pgprescott said:If @HeavyG and @nolaegghead want to argue that they wouldn't make the same deal, go ahead. It's moronic. Choice A: no jobs. Choice B: 1100 jobs. Idiots!
Also, it isn't 1100 jobs at Carrier being saved it's less than 800. And I'm betting that those jobs too will be gone before the end of Trumps only term.
Also, also, a company just down the road from Carrier is shutting down its plant and moving 300 jobs to Mexico. Where's their bribe money?
Before the end of Trumps only term???Sorry to butt in here but I have noticed that many people, obviously including yourself, will not even give Mr. Trump a chance. There is something very wrong with that, and you should want him to succeed. (yes I know, you will reply with "of coarse I want him to succeed.")

In context of this conversation, I never said I was or wasn't interested in the state level, or federal level, other than you should work where your job is at. ....you're not making any sense, man. Keep up!theyolksonyou said:

I love the word tookus

Republicans are for the rich the Democrats are for the poor. No one is for the middle class“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Republicans are for wanting everyone to become rich. Democrats are for wanting everyone to be poor(except the ruling class). Both include the middle class. As the entitlement state expands, the middle class suffers, always. No denying that. The rich cannot support the entitlements alone and both parties know that.G Hans61 said:Republicans are for the rich the Democrats are for the poor. No one is for the middle class -
My bad, I thought the part where you said, "I'd work with policy at the federal level" implied you were concerned with the federal level....nolaegghead said:

@pgprescott I don't like how dems label rich; what democrats label as rich is (at the bottom of that break) is in reality more like upper middle class. But they get thrown in with the ultra wealthy.
From what I've read, top earners are set to get the biggest tax break.
middle class needs to be redifined I think.“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Don't wanna accuse you of saying something that you didn't - so I'll just say that it is too easy to posit that both parties are the same. The equivalency is far from complete. (I'm pretty sure you didn't mean it that way.)For a quick example, look at the Trump [intended] cabinet - a Dream Team for many Repubs . . . and most of the vocal Repubs.
Compare that basket of Trump's with the Obama cabinet choices.

We will see, but it stands to reason that the people who pay the vast majority of taxes including the top half or so of the middle class should get the tax breaks. We already give earned income tax credits which are basically tax cuts for those who pay no tax to begin with. Nearly half of all people don't pay at all. No skin is bad policy and it is the desire of the left. Once you have vast amounts of people dependent on the govt. they are much easier to manipulate. Leads to generational dependency.Hans61 said:@pgprescott I don't like how dems label rich; what democrats label as rich is (at the bottom of that break) is in reality more like upper middle class. You should also point out to your friend from NO that if he opposes all of the President elects ideas and potential policies he should by definition hope for his failure in implementing those ideas. He won't say that because he knows it will make him a hypocrite. This way he is just intellectually dishonest.Sardonicus said:JohnInCarolina said:

I just hope Trump can convince Ben Rhodes to stay on and continue his excellent work. Get some advice from Kerry! Maybe install all rabid conservatives in the IRS. I would hate to see the justice dept get political. Oh good grief, what to do?? Such a dream team in there now. How can they measure up to their greatness? It's hopeless, I need a safe space.
