How do you clean the outside of the egg
Comments

I use piper hot water, a wet towel and start wiping. You'll be amazed at how shiny the egg will be after.
I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca. -
I sprayed mine with oven cleaner then rinsed and wiped off with a scrubbing pad the next day....came perfectly clean.
This was after everyone here made fun of me because I had smoked about 36 pork butts over a few weeks without any cleaning !!!!!
It worked fine. Looked brand new when finished....so did my Stainless top. I sprayed it with OC and put it in a walmart bag for a day, then had to do some minor scrubbing with the scouring pad....looked brand new when completed.

I'm waiting for @SGH to chime in and observe that somebody with Ron's money would discard their filthy egg like soiled clothing and just buy a new one.Flint, Michigan

I bought a can of the Simple Green Heavy-Duty BBQ & Grill Cleaner at Home Depot just last night for this purpose. Haven't tried it yet. My Smokeware cap looks like it could use it too.Greenwood, IN | XL BGE | Weber Genesis | Blackstone 28 | bunch of accessories

Or make a new post about it, talk about Ron's money, church it up well, then go MIA, and never return to the thread.Fred19Flintstone said:I'm waiting for @SGH to chime in and observe that somebody with Ron's money would discard their filthy egg like soiled clothing and just buy a new one.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting. The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president. -

Personally I don't bother.People are attracted to shiny objects. This adds character and keeps people from getting near my eggs.Columbus, Ohio--A Gasser filled with Matchlight and an Ugly Drum.

Water and paper towel, especially when it is warmed up.

When clean, I buff mine with car wax. They shine brilliantly and any oil that then drips onto the glaze wipes right off beautifully.Fire Walker said:Through the years my XL has a lot of oily bake on stuff in the dimples how and what do you use. My med has shallow dimples and doesnt have that problem what to do? -
I'll ask My Beautiful Wife. It looks great when she does it.

For anyone who is looking for a good solution for cleaning the outside of their egg, that isn’t having luck with simple green, simple green ultimate bbq, etc: I have a mini max that I use 4-5 times a week and it was naaaaasty. The grease was caked on the outside of the entire lid, heavy black nastiness in every dimple, not to mention heavy grease runs all down the side. Getting the grill to super hot temps and using cleaners wasn’t taking it off.
After trying many solitons, what finally worked for me was a magic eraser and a lot of patience. Now, the dome shines like new and I’m going to do a much better job of keeping it looking new.. because getting it shiny again was a pain. Hope this helps someone. -
My Eggs don't get cleaned often, but the easist way to get into the dimples for cleaning is to use a scrubbing brush, not too stiff a bristle. A bit of surface cleaner, use the brush and rinse / wipe off.
