Everyone is for clean air and water, healthy children, livable cities, sustainability and preserving the rainforest. The other stuf on the list isn't worth some idiot in Washington destroying our economy over, raising energy prices or dictating what I can and can't eat. -

A better world for NOTHING? The cost of this pipe dream is enormous! Forget about the Billions Obama has given to Solyndra and their ilk. The average utility consumer, residential, commercial, industrial & agriculture is taking it or shortly will take increased utility costs because of Obama's war on the coal industry. We are set to lose the coal fired electric plants that provide a significant percentage of the electricity in America. We all know businesses don't pay the increase, they pass it on to the consumer. So everything will become more costly to us. Your NOTHING sure is expensive!JohnInCarolina said:

Just imagine what the cost will be to the global economy if we (nations of the world not just the USA) actually do NOTHING in response to a changing climate?Fred19Flintstone said:

If it was a PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY, then it would be a fact and something in which we can agree action must be taken. But this whole thing is NOT PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY so you are asking me to accept this on faith. I don't go to that church brother!HeavyG said:

But this whole thing is NOT PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY so you are asking me to accept this on faith. I don't go to that church brother!- it's not a fact or proven scientifically that you or your family will be attacked at any point in the future, yet you arm yourself with weapons to mitigate the risk of such attacks. same logic can be applied here if you don't want to buy into climate change or any other risk on 'faith' as you say
- we can discuss climate change or we can discuss potential steps to mitigate it, but judging the existence or risk of one based on the solutions proposed by someone you don't like doesn't make sense, it just muddles the conversation

It's one thing sir, to buy a firearm & ammo. In the grand scheme of our family finances, that's a minor purchase. What you're advocating is a suffocating expense that lowers the standard of living all on a hunch. That's nuts!Legume said:

Fred - I have not advocated an expense or solution. I was trying to point out that you're mixing up your dislike for a proposed solution (or your dislike for the proponents of the solution) with existence of risk of climate change.
This is how I read what you've written: Fred's perspective = risk from climate change is a hunch, suffocating expense of mitigating is proven fact
I'm really not agreeing or disagreeing with your opinions, just be fair and consistent in your logic or you're just going to keep shooting yourself in the foot with that minor purchase of yours.

In regards to the science, it's a consensus. The scientific community is in agreement that both climate change is occurring AND the primary reason is increased emissions beginning with the industrial revolution.

Fair & balanced, eh? (A tweak for my liberal egghead friends.). I don't see an inconsistency. Unproven problem: man made global warming. Solution to fix said unproven problem: incredibly expensive to the point where many will lower their standard of living.
You liberal types claim to be compassionate where us conservatives are cold hearted bastids. I believe this proves otherwise. Pretty soon granny will have to eat cat food just to pay the electric bill.Flint, Michigan -

Let me ask you this. It's not about changing your lifestyle, it's about defeating isis.... Barack Obama says he will “rebuke” ISIS by attending a global climate conference in Paris next week.
Speaking at the White House with French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday, Obama said that by attending the global warming convention, it will be a “powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children.”

@Davec433 I don't think anyone has said that. Is that just another cartoon you've been waiting to post? I assume you identify as conservative or republican or something like that - has someone on here said this is a republican or conservative thing? When I do a quick scan, the only political references are Obama bashing or these clever cartoons that politicize the discussion. I don't understand why you're so quick to do that - that can't be your only statement, right?

I think PROOF means it is PROVEN (repeated and consistently) that because of X happening, Y occurs. When it comes to man made global warming, there is nothing like that. Al Gore is a politician, not a scientist.JohnInCarolina said:
