Seems counter productive - tax the meat, people don't buy as much.  People don't buy, farmers have more livestock.  More livestock farting, more greenhouse gasses, more global warming...

  • Because we have waited as long as we have to address climate change, there aren't really a whole lot of painless steps left. Those are the breaks folks.

  • The only good thing about that is that it would broaden the tax base. We certainly need more government intervention and regulation. Our tax code needs to be more complicated and expensive to administer. And we need a less productive economy. At least the totalitarians and socialists are creative. It would be much more efficient though to simply exterminate some people as the ultimate green tax. I am sure the government could sift through the undesirables so that we could all have our safe places, be green, and have free health care.

  • Who cares about the planet? We need to focus on the debt so that our grandchildren have a world worth inheriting!

I am not convinced that man made emissions are at fault for global warming - if it exists.  Note my skeptism.  If I were to believe this view, I would favor a carbon tax rather than a piecemeal restrictions, such as taxes on meat.  Each cow would be taxed on its carbon profile.

Food for thought. perhaps, we should stop trying to justify "why we aren't wrong" and try to ensure we make the world a better place than we found it.

I'll abide by all "no burn days" announced in my neck of the world. There are many no burn days here in the desert, during the winter months.
The cold air aloft holds the bad air down. Thus not allowing the wind to carry the bad air off to Colorado.
If the powers say it's a bad day to burn... who am I to question their wisdom? They have all the facts and figures. I don't.
They are just looking out for us. I don't ever want to contribute to climate change. That would be bad. Not to mention the good folks in Colorado would not be happy.

Absolutely @nolaegghead  That image says it all.
The science is fact, not concise!

Science is fact, something known to exist, or to have happen, concise is brief in form, but comprehensive in scope.

I like science. No questions remain.

Genetically alter plants to consume 10 times the CO2, get a couple hundred thousand Johnny Appleseed types out there, and in 50 years, we will be back to global cooling.
    Next?
All of this can be done much easier if we use the lower air intake vent more wisely, and get back to the basics with the daisy wheel.
