what is the best lump?

Hello all,
I ran through my inaugural bags of BGE organic lump. The price is quite high and so I decided to try a value brand...34lb bag of Frontier for $19.99 at the local BJ'S Wholesale. Seemed like an incredible deal, however, the burn is nowhere near the quality and consistency of the BGE lump.
But as fast as I am going through it, the price tag is getting pretty steep.
Any thoughts on a strong quality alternative for good lump? Let me know where you purchase from also.
I am located in Florida just as an FYI...
As always...thanks for the insight.
Best,
Keith

Too many small pieces for a low and slow if you have it delivered. Gotta pick it up at the store.

Brother, everyone is messing with you because it's Friday night, the alcohol is flowing, and the lump debate has been beaten to death many, many times before. With that said I will offer this. Ozark Oak and Rockwood are two excellent lumps in my opinion. Unfortunately Ozark Oak is no longer available. As such Rockwood is my personal favorite due to its near neutral profile. I have tried several brands but always go back to Rockwood as it allows me to have total control over the smoke profile. At the end of the day, use what you like and have access to. But I do recommend at least giving Rockwood a try. You just might stick with it.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Rockwood, Ozark Oak or Wicked Good Weekend Warrior are amongst the best but cost more. If you are more concerned on value I would go with Royal Oak. It's available at Walmart and Home Depot. Just be sure you let it burn long enough for the smoke to run clear before you put the food on.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

I got tired of waiting for Rockwood to get a distributor in Louisville, started making my own out of pine bark and dryer lint. Selling it in 20 pound bags. Can't keep it in stock."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

BGE lump is made by Royal Oak. Home depot carries Royal Oak (so does Walmart). It works as well, and is a lot less expensive.
