I've never used them before. I bought a bag of chips a while ago and finally got around to using them today with chicken thighs. The smoke flavor was excellent.
What other meats does orange go good with?

I've used it with Pecan wood chunks for pork ribs and it was good. My Orange Wood Chunks were from springtime pruning. It's a lite to mild wood.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Something different I like to use is coffee wood, hard to find but it produces a great flavor. It's a very dense wood so it has a long burn time.

I almost exclusively use orangewood lump, not chunks, lump. It is very neutral, adds just enough smoky taste to all meats with no smoking woods added if one is so inclined. I do add smoking chunks to certain things of course. I love it it is called Santa Clara Valley Orangewood lump. Avail here in Ca.

My "has never led me astray" smoking chart says you are good to go with all meats, no mention of seafood.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I've only been using it on chicken ... only have/had a few branches trimmed from the landscaping trees in Arizona ... under the cover of darkness. For those of us north of the Mason-Dixon line, where do you buy orange wood chunks from?

Orange wood is plentiful here in Florida. I have used it on chicken, pork and steaks. One of my favorite steak houses here uses orange wood for cooking steaks so I had to try it. Family was visiting last Feb and it was the first time they had tried my food from the egg. I did steaks with orange wood and the results were "when is Dave's Steak House going to open, I will be there every day because I have never in my life eaten a steak anywhere this good." As Skiddymarker says, that smoking flavor chart hasn't failed me yet.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've been buying my woods from them; high quality product. I haven't tried their Orange wood.Cooking on an XL and Medium in Bethesda, MD. -
@Ragtop99 ... thanks.
@SmokingPiney ... thanks ... I searched around and found that Cabelas carries orange wood chunks. Walked into a Meijers store today and found some orange wood chips on the shelf ... first time for everything. I like chunks, but the bag of chips will get me through until I can get come chunks in house.

@Sookie - been looking for them JD or Jim Beam trees all my life, the other one on here that I have tried was seaweed. Had some nori papers well past their best before date, tried it with some tuna. added a very nice touch - smoked like hell and did not last long. Someday will have to make a trip to the ocean and try the fresh stuff.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

@Sookie ... the Jack Danial tree locations are usually kept a secret, but I think this is an undercover photo of a couple ...

I used my burgundy French White Oak from old Chardonnay barrels with chicken breasts last weekend. I thought it might add something, it did, but I was not overly impressed. Chardonnay did impart the flavor, but somehow I thought it be much more robust. I have some with Pinot Noir I want to try next."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

My grandpa cooked steaks over orange wood. They were phenomenal.

Tried some filets with orange smoke for dinner. Didn't like it as much as the nut trees for steaks. Oak is a little too strong for the missus, so guess we'll be sticking with our compromise of hickory and pecan.
Have to try it on pork next.

Stopped at Cabelas in Minnesota on our way back home and bought a bag of orange wood chunks. Chicken wings tasted extra good tonight. Really do like the smoke flavor of orange wood and chicken.
Pork is next ... maybe ... maybe orange wood and turbo ribs ... that might work.
