Tony, I don't know. I picked one randomly and read it and it had no earmarks. It cost 100mil for 5 years. That's probably why it didn't fly.

Repeal pragmatic minimum standards for children's education based on the skill set needed for higher education. And replace by ??? That makes sense. Oh, crikey its a federal program! Do away with it! It rises standards, are kids ain't gonna graddate with dat crapola! Weel jus hire moar engineers and doctors from countries with better edjukation!!!

The Hill.... McConnell charged that Reid, the Nevada Democrat, was playing election-year politics with the bill by refusing to allow votes on a GOP amendment that would have cut the bill's size and would have added penalties against Iran for its nuclear program.

The Iran sanctions measure was necessary because Reid would not allow the upper chamber to hold a separate vote, North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, the ranking GOP member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, told The Hill.

Burr warned that a provision opening up VA healthcare to veterans who do not have a service connected disability is inviting disaster. He said VA is already failing to meet the needs of those currently in the system, or will be entering it because of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He also pointed out that a provision to have the VA sign leases with 27 facilities across the country and Puerto Rico in order to expand VA care will result in construction work that the VA cannot afford.

The Dems definitely underhanded the bill. It's our responsibility to take care of the veterans but we need to make cuts to afford it. How about stop sending 48 billion dollars a year to overseas countries and take care of our own.

As I said.. both sides are failing. Since when do liberals care about warmongers anyway?

I have two BILs that are engineers at the VA hospitals in NOLA and Seattle and I called one of them and told them about the article. After receiving an earful for 15 minutes, I learned congress approves all their requests and most of them were made 8 to 10 years ago. Congress did nothing, sat on them for years, then when they finally get approved most of the projectsl go over budget because the estimates are so old and bad decisions were made in the VA. Has nothing to do with the president, as much as you'd like to think, and everything has been in the pipe for much longer than he's been around.

And of the Free Beacon: Media Matters for America founder David Brock sent a letter to news organizations in 2014 saying, "If credible media outlets regard the unethical practices of The Free Beacon as valid, all of journalism will be debased."

I just got back late last night from a quick trip out to DC. I've taken so many flights over the last month, I'm starting to think that day drankin is the only way to make flying commercial remotely tolerable.

No, either Secretary Nicholson or Peake. These types of requests don't go above Cabinet-level approval before heading to the Appropriations Committee. This is just further evidence that Congress is a failure.
