Common core math really isn't that difficult.  It's just a different approach from what many of us learned, but it's much more adept at developing critical thinking skills.  These are skills that most college students, even those at elite schools, are lacking.  I deal with it every year.

That may be the intent, but some of the methods are far from logical. I'm all for higher standards and teaching kids to think. Hell, I'm not necessarily against common core. Just some of the math lessons.

The "kid" is 22 and was drunk at 11 in the morning, operating a vehicle.  Fortunately nobody was hurt.  You won't find a whole lot of sympathy for drunk drivers.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm not a "lib".

Common core math had me going "what?!?!" when my 13 year old first brought it home. Once I figured it out and why they were teaching that way, it actually made sense.

And testing to determine academic progress? Oh, the horror, please no. I'll be scarred for life because I was tested.

C'mon. We took standardized tests in elementary school. Because of those tests I took SATs in 7th grade. I don't know why or how I scored, but I did end up in advanced math and science because of it.
