Scottie and I are signed up to compete in http://www.louisianacrawfishchamps.org/

We can have up to 10 people in our team.  There are 59 teams.  We have three so far.  Thatgrimguy, SGH and me.  Anyone local interested, it's a fundraiser for the Immaculate Conception school (how I was conceived) and we're IN IT TO WIN IT!!!

We need a team name.  Any suggestions?   I was thinking something obvious that would say who we are - "Gulf Coast Eggheads", but we could make it more fun, like, scottie  suggested, F-cazzy (I don't know what that means).

Anyone want to join, we have some slots.  We will split up the costs.  Probably be around $1000, but if we go nuts, we can cook more than the mandated 250 pounds of crawfish.

Scotty will be bringing unit #7 and we'll feed the other teams the night before, where there's a big party.

le bon temps roule!!!

You could also be "The Raging Furnicles" and make people google it and make the connection.

Good suggestions.  I would hope the judges judge on taste.  (actually I hear it's a blind judging).

In that vein, maybe the Staphylococcus Mud Bugs, or Canned Unicorn Meat?

Here's last year.  I have never cooked at this event in my life, but I'm friends with one of the main organizers, and I (shhhh) get in free every year.

Seriously OT, but since this is just for the NOLA area, I have spent decades craving the taste of Pacal's Manales bbq shrimp and have never been able to replicate it. There is an on line recipe that claims to be it...but it's just not. Anyone have any secrets?

@PNWFoodie - We kinda merge the Pascal recipe with the Mr. B's.  Biggest secret would be getting good, huge shrimp and not over cooking them.

We add some beer, cut back on the butter a little, and get some good bread.  Wear a bib for ambiance ;)

I've been to this event a number of times, and it's outstanding.  I can't commit to cooking at the moment, but I will keep it on my radar.  I have some friends on other teams as well.

Let me know, we have open slots.

We're officially in and will be on the T-shirt as the Raging Boils.

    Actually, "Team Big Green Egg".

    Update.

So looks like we have, out of the max of 10 team members:

    Me
    Scottie
    ThatGrimGuy
Randy (Gumbo guy at brisket camp) expert at KCS events and winning
Jerome (crazy mo-fo, Krav Maga instructor, structural engineer) for security
Red (Marine) - intelligence - will spy on other teams, kick some nuts

Just talked to Scottie and we're doing test cooks this weekend.

    Update version 2.0:

I have been informed we have a booth next to the Hooters girls, who apparently cook crawfish.

My inside connection told me they were at the compitition a couple of years ago.

This is a fundraiser for a catholic grade school.  They sell beer, wine and booze.   They do draw the line with posting any pictures of the hooters girls on their web site.  I was told this was done previously, and said pictures where removed by request of the school.

I just have to keep @SGH focused.  He likes the hooters men. ;)  I am kidding my brother.

The Hooters girls are tame compared to the local Marrero, Westwego and Lafitte girls that attend.
