Michigan has Coney Dogs. Sometimes called a chili dog by non natives. There's the Flint style and the Detroit style. The Flint style chili is dryer. Both are best served with diced raw onion and yellow mustard. Oh, the chili has no beans. Ever.Flint, Michigan

Chesapeake oysters are better than Gulf. I've had both and I'm not even being a homer here. When I was in New Orleans, I had oysters and was expecting a certain flavor. Tasted like nothing at all. Good hot sauce, though. Much better sweetness and brine up here in the Mid-Atlantic and upward.SGH said:

I have always wanted to try the Chesapeake oysters. I have found a few online sources that will ship them with 1 day delivery. Going to order a few hundred pounds over the Christmas holidays and try them out. They show a few different "type" of oysters. Any particular ones you recommend?Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

@SGH I'll let @Eggcelsior answer your question, but I was in Delaware last year and went out for oysters. I couldn't believe the variety they had! I'm a southern boy and always had gulf oysters. They had so many different flavors. Unbelievable. I have to concur with those Maryland boys. They have good flavorful oysters.

I've had Scrapple before. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH KETCHUP!!

Given the explosion in locations you should definitely add 5 Guys to the NoVA list.Chelnerul said:Northern Virginia - Worst traffic this side of the Mississippi
I'd say Dizzy Pig, but it's becoming so widely available online and regionally that perhaps that's no longer the case that it's a regional gem?

Add whoopie pies and anything containing blueberries (esp pie and muffins) to the Maine list. For MA you need clam chowder, Boston cream pie, and Parker house rolls. And every Vermonter is going to come find you a beat you up for giving maple syrup to NH.fishlessman said:maine...lobster rolls on a split top.....anything with a cork brewed by allagash
