Thanks for sharing the recipe. I've done this in the past (on other grills) but not on BGE. The sticks didn't get burned off? I assumed you're cooking it direct?

If you look at the picture in the upper back of the pan you will see some skewers with a paddle at the one end. I get those at Asian markets and they are actually square and have more wood. You always soak skewers but I did have a few problwms with the burnoff at times. These are great.bbqlearner said:Thanks for sharing the recipe. Thanks LS. I'm originally from Indonesia so we usually cook it using a box (looks like this picture) but never tried it on the BGE so just wondering how it works.

Sorry meant to add that we used the box mainly to avoid the sticks being burned off (only the meat is directly exposed to the fire). So wasn't sure if putting the whole thing on the egg will burn/break the sticks. Thanks for the direction.

I haven't had as many problems with the egg as I used to on the gasser. What do you think of the recipe? Love to get your feedback. I'm thinking of beef rending for the Toronto fest but have never made it.bbqlearner said:Thanks LS. LS, the recipe looks perfect!
Your recipe even includes kaffir lime leaves (not easily available where I live in US so we buy a lot usually and freeze it). I assume the chopped onion is red onion (sometimes, we use shallot).
We used lime but it's usually fresh lime that we squeezed. The lime we used (called "jeruk limau") is normally slightly bigger than "usual" lime you see in the market.Looks something like this picture.

Yes, I have seen them in Asian markets. I like the lemon flavor but I'll try those. I use a blend of yellow and red onion.

Hey Steve! Did you notice the Tigers/BJays score? The Tigers blew them out 18-4!Fred19Flintstone said:It's against my better judgement, but since you're coming over the water, I'll oblige. Same deal? Rubs and sauces? If I lose, I'm gonna cry about the Tigers playing with a split squad. Just sayin'.
