I am sooooo excited (eggcited?) I obtained some lovely pork chops and followed the advice of "the pork people" at eggfest. Just a light rub and only cook till about 155 on the polder...then let it sit a sec. Yowie! They were FABULOUS. Juicy and lovely and wonderful. I am sooooo happy. That and my tiny yam. Sigh. In heaven.[p]My son (10) has watched the BGE video about a thousand times and wants to know if it is ok if he cooks something in Atlanta! I told him he had better learn how to cook because he is getting really spoiled and is gonna make some woman's life miserable if he can't make this stuff himself! So expect a young gourmet in October![p]Came home and ordered my variety pack of Char Crust. Gotta get the pizza stone and the rib rack. [p]I am still smiling at all the events of the weekend. What an incredibly nice time. Just....nice. I just love the hell out of all of you. Big hugs to all.

MollyShark,[p]Nice to have met you. Eggtoberfest will always allow a newbie to cook so tell your son to practice - this year they may have 40 Eggs cooking. Wow - they may have have to have in the Omni convention center. [p]It was nice to meet you - Thanks for coming all that way to Waldorf.[p]Tim

    MollyShark,
If your son has any problems with his cooking, you can tell him that JJ will be with him 100%. I guarantee he will walk away with rookie of year honors.
I will teach him my 20+ yrs of cooking on the EGG as well as my 50 yrs of Q'n experience.

JJ, if your cooking talent is anything like your reputation,, the kid can't miss. We constantly hear "JJ's rub, or JJ's burgers,,, and when we hear it,, it's always a rave. You've been at it a long time.. When you were a young boy of 10 wanting to learn how to Q,, you couldn't just light up the Egg and go to it. Nope,, first you had to invent charcoal,, and we thank you for it. Did they have fire back then? HA! Greetings, and I will try to learn a few tricks from you in the fall..[p]Your partner in seniority.

MollyShark,[p]Tell your son that I would consider it a great honor to be the first in line to taste his cook in Atlanta.[p]Thanks.[p]Spin[p]

    King-O-Coals,
Believe it or not lump charcoal was all that was available in the 40's when I learned to Q. No EGGs then just pits in the ground, concrete block set ups or grills.

MollyShark,[p]I'll add to the growing sentiment that I'll sample anything you or your son cooks. And if he's anywhere near as friendly as you, which I'm sure he is, it'd be my pleasure to teach him everything I know about cooking (albeit, this is not the greatest amount of knowledge in the world, but it's a start...).[p]My breaks are now one per half hour from dreaded paper. One thing I can certainly offer everyone at Eggtoberfest 2000 is more information than anyone in the universe could possibly ever want to know about cache memory. I have a feeling, however, that this would not make me a popular character at parties...[p]Cornfed

    JJ,
So, will we get to meet you in October? So many great people in Waldorf, MD last weekend! You were missed. How was the book tour?

Tim M:[p]That would be Phillips Arena . . . The Omni is history, Philips is on the same site. VERY nice place.

JJ,[p]I have a really good idea that it won't be at the same place as the last two Eggtoberfests - that's a guess on my part. The thinking is to have a larger place so the Eggs can be spread out more as well as to accommodate more people. There was no mention of places they are thinking of having it. The BGE movement is growing it seems.[p]Nice to see you back on the forum and between the book tours. Nature followed you directions on the brisket and it came out perectly. Wish you could have made it.[p]Tim[p]

    Tim M,
30 or 40 Eggs? Don't do that to me. I can't eat that much.

Tim M,[p]Oh, man, I finally learned where the turn-off is for the site of the last two EGGtoberfests. I only drove past it twice both directions before finding it last year. And now they are going to move it?[p]Seriously, at the last one, Bill told me that they were talking about a "bigger" place for next (this) year.[p]Brant
