Ok, I bought the chesnuts-now what?

Just saw chesnuts at the local store for the first time. I bought a pound to try. Does anyone have a suggestion? I remember having roasted chesnuts as a kid once and thought they were good. That was long ago. What does anyone think? Roast or what? Thanks as always.

    shiek,
Here is the simple answer, score the flat part of the shell with an X. Then place in a Grill wok and simply roast. I would go with a temperature in the upper 200’s. I have no idea how long it should take, but your nose will tell you when they are done. Make sure that you stir them often as to not burn the bottom ones.[p]Hope this helps,

    shiek,
When I do these in the oven I cut an X into the shell so that the steam can escape (They blow up other wise and make a mess in the oven) and then roast them at 450º for 15 to 20 minutes until the shells are puffed and split.
