@HannahGreeneEgg - I'm sure you've noticed we have a forum member disliking most every post on most every topic. Obviously this person has something traumatic happening in their life and are using the forum as a outlet. Perhaps you could help alleviate their pain by sending some BGE swag to them?
To the "disliker": If you'd state what is troubling you on the forum it is likely the members here can offer some solutions, you'll get moral support at the very least.

could be wrong but looks like bot phenomenon as opposed to real human.

Not me, but I simply can’t post on most discussions or make a new discussion without it being “approved” by some unknown entity. Am I being shadow banned?Las Vegas, NV

i am sorry to inform you battleborn that hannah will have you approve you as some sort of non spam account. when that happens, there is a risk of all your old pending approval posts and replies appearing all at once. when it happened to me i luckily was within the time window to edit / delete most of the redundant stuff.
-
What’s weird is that it isn’t on everything or all the time. How do I go about getting approved? Seems like being a member for a decade and near 4,000 posts I should have been verified as a non-spam bot.Buckwoody Egger said:i am sorry to inform you battleborn that hannah will have you approve you as some sort of non spam account. when that happens, there is a risk of all your old pending approval posts and replies appearing all at once. when it happened to me i luckily was within the time window to edit / delete most of the redundant stuff.Las Vegas, NV -
yep- my join year is 2008 and 1,500+ posts so yeah it was a little unnecessary and also inconsistently applied.
-
hey i missed the how to get approved question — send a pm to @HannahGreeneEgg
came back to the post to add that the “pending approval” likely also has a lot to do with how restrictive a users settings and retention are for cookies and anonymity. so if you are deleted cookies, vpn, private browser etc etc then that session could be more likely “is this a bot?” earmarked. noticed that the forum now has cloudflare “is this a human?” validation too. i am not an expert just trying to help others since we are kind of an “old school by choice” crew.

last time we had a disliker either a glitch or bge opened the dislike feature for all to see. seems appropriatefukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

It used to be that you could “see” who disliked your post. Maybe @HannahGreeneEgg could bring that feature back? It would surely reduce this sort of thing."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

i dont really understand why theres even a dislike button, get rid of the negative feature. it doesnt seem to be used to dislike a post anymore, seems to be used more to dislike the members themselves, why even have it.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I agree, I don't see the value in it. I'm just assuming it's there in part because Vanilla only provides so many options for forums, and what we are seeing here is one of them.fishlessman said:JohnInCarolina said:It used to be that you could “see” who disliked your post. Hey all - thanks for bringing this to my attention! Apologies for the delay, I have been out of office for a bit dealing with a personal matter. Would someone mind PMing me the person's username that's disliking the posts so I can look into it a bit more? Thank you!

if your vanilla team opens up the list of dislikers on a post, we will all know who it is. its been done either on purpose or by mistake on one of the forum upgrades before. currently we are locked out of likes, agrees, and dislikes for whoever is clicking on those featuresfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
We can only see the number of likes and dislikes. We cannot see WHO is liking and disliking.HannahGreeneEgg said:Hey all - thanks for bringing this to my attention! I miss the days when likers and dislikers were identified by default. Personally, I don’t see how a layer of anonymity (even to the admins) is of any benefit to anyone.
