Got 3 new trash cans.  Old ones were cracked and smashed and one missing a lid.

@Ozzie_Isaac -must be a high-roller AZ deal as here you just let 'em know you need a replacement and the exchange just happens.  I'm sure the cost is captured within their customer accounts but not as an up front charge.

They definitely can afford to replace the cans, especially with the rate hike they imposed this year!

Here was what the old ones looked like.

we have a regional waste vendor, family owned. they send parts out on all of their trucks and if drivers see a busted hinge or wheel, they get out and fix. If it's bigger, they call it in and it gets replaced that day.  Pretty incredible from what I've seen.

    That's amazing.

We get 1 replacement a year but we need to request it. Same goes for my 8 yard dumpsters at the biz.

It is a combination of factors.  I would have thought the horse manure one would take the damage, but it is in the best shape.  The sun makes them brittle, and then we have a substitute driver who doesn't know how to grab the cans properly.  I watched him pinch all three cans in the center, crush them, try to lift them, and basically rag doll the cans up and down a few times trying to adjust the "grip".  I watched in complete amazement enjoying the spectacle.  I was amazed that the cans could crush like a plastic water bottle.

definitely wouldn't have paid due to the collectors negligence....

For WM probably chainsaw and into this for the next recycle collection day; and yes, even the regular drivers squeeze them as hard as they can and death rattle shake them before slamming them onto the street.

The struggle is real. Garbage folks wouldn't pick up a busted trash can for 2+ weeks, until I cut it up and stuffed it into the recycling bin.

Waste Management takes the old cans (even one that was full)  and left new cans.  I was very excited because I had 3 mismatched cans, now I have 3 consecutive serial number cans, all same size and shape!

When we moved from another Canadian province to our current one about five years back, we received consecutive license plates off by only one digit (sequential, of course).

    So satisfying.

Since we have moved on to plates, in Ohio you renew your tags every year, or whatever interval but it is done on your birthday, so when they send you the sticker to put on your tag for the whole world to see it has your birth month and day as the expiration. Pretty wild in the age of identity theft but handy if you can't remember your wife or a friends birthday.
