^^^ That takes me back to England in the 70's when I was a student there.

The public payphone's coin slot had a spring loaded lever that would bounce back after swallowing the coin, occasionally I would find one where the lever would not travel far enough to swallow the coin. An uninitiated bloke would walk away, thinking it was out-of-order. For me? Jackpot! I would wrapped my thumb with heavy padding and push the coin hard and fast, the coin comes back and the quick jab registered the payment. It was great for long distance chats with my gf  :)

@CPFC1905 @Stormbringer Are you old enough to remember those phones?
    Oh yes.

Still going through divorce - exwife playing games, shut off my credit card, changed online passwords, and shifted most the money out of a shared account.  Just another day :)

it's been a long time since that situation myself, but can't your lawyer get her lawyer to prevent her from doing that sort of thing?

They have tried.  She plays by her own rules. We already had an “expedited” emergency court date of Dec 17th for dealing with other financial shinnigans.

Wife just left to take our youngest to a concert, some fella named Hozier. My daughter is obsessed with his music. Who has a concert on a Sunday? I must officially be old.
Hosier is awesome. I saw them last year up in Portland Maine. Awesome show.

That’s what the Dec 17th date is for - she pulled this stuff before.  She plays by her own rules and lives in her own world.

keeps me on my toes and keeps life spicey.  It’s funny though, 25 years of this ****, didn’t realize how miserable I was.

The other day I was just super **** happy and didn’t even know why - it’s because I wasn’t dealing with or managing someone else’s shitshow chaos.  The simple “nothing is wrong at this moment” makes
me ecstatic.  Wouldn’t go back for $100M.

yeah that's over 2 months of couch surfing or doing gig work.

I've spent an hour or so today trying to figure out how to change my cable wifi password. Pretty sure someone is using my internet between midnight and 6. My phone has told me that my wifi isn't safe before.

I have never used the cable WiFi and my telco router is in bridge mode so that all the routing is on my firewall. inside the firewall, I have my own wifi set up with different zones for different security levels. Telco wifi's are easy, but for my house I just don't trust that security in someone else's hands.

hmmm, that reminds me, time for a quick scan of my internal wifi ... yep all good :)

@fishlessman Don't tell @Battleborn VGK is cheating for having Canadian players doing the heavy lifting 😂
Also, no rule that says you have to toss the coin directly at the plates.
I am fully aware that Canada currently produces the best hockey players, which is why it so inexplicable that a Canadian team hasn’t won the cup in 32 years.

If we don't score in the top of the 15th, I'm going to bed. Gotta work tomorrow and I'm already up 2 hours later than I wish to be.

Remember them? I occasionally helped my Dad empty them.  Keeping it 70's relevant, he was a GPO engineer so sometimes he'd be called out on a weekend to repair them and gather the cash too.  There was a lot of 2p coins to be counted.

The iconic red boxes went from being a first line of communication to relic of the dark ages in a very short period.   On the plus side, it's one less thing for drunk drivers to collide with and they were proper solid, too.

Fairfield Plantation. A nice little track. Put up a 37 on the front nine which was good enough for bragging rights against the young buck. Always nice to spend time with family we don’t get to see much.
