I did not have Alabama losing to… Vanderbilt, on my bingo card for the weekend.
You hate to see it.
You hate to see it.

Nor AF losing to... Navy. Nor Iowa being steamrollered. Iowa State game is just starting, but I'm wondering if I should wax my lawn mower instead.
EDIT: And WhenTH did ISU go to "all white"?!? :barf:

EDIT: Oh, and that P. Dinklage-sized RB that ISU has is sooo much fun to watch! Killer!!!

Off-hand I would offer that Navy kicked Air Force's A$$ and at home. All good but some wins are better than others!🇺🇸⚓️Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. @DoubleEgger, Georgia Tech was a 9.5 point favorite.

Wow. I wouldn’t have thought that. GT is a grab bag team. You don’t know what you’re going to get.Foghorn said:@DoubleEgger, Georgia Tech was a 9.5 point favorite.

It surprised me too. But it seems like they got it pretty right.

One can almost hear this echoing from Alabama as the hangover of Saturday fades.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thank_God_for_Mississippi?If I'm being honest, the difference between your professional NFL American football and your University American football leagues are lost on us. Perhaps there are more Lamborghini's in the Uni league.
I committed to watching your Jets and your Vikings yesterday, but my sense of propriety prevents me from commenting further. I clearly do not understand the product.I love my eggs almost as I love my Jaguar. -
The thing is that for probably 50 years Vandy was the weakest team in the Southeast. Losing to them would’ve been just cause for the entire team to go to court and change their names. It reminds me of 1980 when Mississippi State beat Bama on their home field. I was interning in Birmingham at the time. My division boss came in clearly hungover and said “shut up! No go home!”( I attended Mississippi State. MSU was routinely an underdog in the SEC but we could always count on beating those effete snobs at Vandy and, at the time, often LSU.

@OxfordJaguar69, John Cleese got it right when he said that American Football consists of two of the worst parts of American culture - it is essentially committee meetings interrupted by brief episodes of violence (or something like that).
With that said, I grew up with it and can watch it all day long because of the athleticism. The biggest guys on the field are incredibly fast and agile even if they don't look like it based on their body habitus. And the smaller guys even more so.
It's not the structure of the sport that keeps me from watching more of it - it's the commercials.
It is unusual that we somehow tie preparation for a career in professional sports to attending a university. I'm still not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.
I think it would be interesting to track the top 100 16 year old US football player to see how their lives turn out and compare it to the top 100 16 year old British soccer players - as those kids typically are done with their formal education when they sign for a pro team's youth academy (at least that's how I understand it). Does tracking our kids into some years of college lead to better longterm outcomes when most of them don't make it rich in pro sports?XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle
