Just tell them it's an anal probe if they ask.  That's my trick.

I have never carried one on the plane.  I have put it in my checked luggage many times without a problem.

I have routinely carried a ThermoPop on travel via checked luggage. It is a permanent fixture on my packing list. Reason I favour ThermoPop over the ThermaPen for this application: lighter, smaller and cheaper to replace if lost or damaged.

I have never tried it, always in checked luggage.  Given the security , you won't get it thru.  If you need it and only have carry-on luggage then I would ship it to your destination.  FWIW-

Is that a Mayor Pete joke? He's been such a disasster as has this whole joke of an administration.... But I don;t wanna go down that rabbit hole. That's why I've been off the site for a few years.

They may not make them anymore, but I got hassled about one of the Keychain thermometers once. They let it through after examining it. I wouldn't try the full size  =)

As they've confiscated two wine corkscrews from me, I wouldn't chance it with a $100 Thermapen.

I unknowingly brought a 12 pack of these to and from Florida in my carry-on.  No issues.  Granted, the t-pen is longer. . .

  • I once brought home BGE corn holders that I won at an Eggfest, I never even looked in the box. I couldn't believe they got through security when I opened them at home, they were SHARP. I guess it depends on which airport.
But, no, I wouldn't try bringing a thermapen, except in checked luggage.
Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

I'm pretty sure they allow knitting needles, so not much different.

I like the dash for travel and price.  There is a dash mini that is pretty short. If you are staying at an Airbnb maybe tough to time the shipping for when you are there but maybe you could ship to a ups store in the town.
They have the gray color classic thermapen on sale for $60 today for some reason. Enjoy the trip, cooking on vacation is a lot of fun.

You probably have some kind of cured meat product ready to sacrifice at any time for the TSA.
