I thought you meant Ignore your request.  I bet The_Buffalo follows your request and ignores your request.

Agreed. I've never found it difficult to ignore certain individuals, posts, or threads.

I do have sympathy tho for those folks that are apparently required to read every post/thread. :)

Different people process the forum in different ways.  I personally don't have any issues skipping past responses I want to ignore, but I can appreciate the utility of not even having to think twice.  Or if you simply wanted to block someone who was harassing you.

If it's an option in vanilla, why not provide it?  People can take it or leave it as needed.  Seems pretty easy to me.
Some people are completionists and they need to read every word in every thread.

I don't even need to read an entire comment in order to argue and tell them they are wrong.

    Don't necessarily disagree.
Vanilla has dozens of plugins/options that many would find nice/useful but I'm guessing every time one is added the chance of gremlins likely increases. As much as I would like (and have repeatedly suggested) a Usenet-like killfile ability it's probably better to keep it simple and just scroll faster on occasion.

Could be on gremlins but my view is, why not try the experiment?  If it doesn’t go well you can just remove the option.  I fail to see the big downside.

That would be funny - along with showing who is disliking, also show who is ignoring someone. I vote for that!

I remember a forum nearly 20 years ago that had an ignore feature. To set an ignore the user's internal accountID would be set.

The user screens did not allow you to ignore yourself, but if you tweaked the URL you could ignore yourself, or trick others to ignore themselves. Since there was no way to ignore yourself, there was also no way to un-ignore yourself.

Bury a link in some click bait then sit back and enjoy.

  • If you are being ignored, the telltale is that no one responds to your posts ... wait .... is that why no one's been answering my questions as of late?!?!!?

  • On a serious note, is there a way to increase the number of posts that i can see on the first page. I generally pop in, scan through the subjects that show up on page 1 ... pick a few, then close the site. I used to see a good 20 or 30 of the latest subjects on my homepage ... but since the change, I only see the latest 10 ... which is short.
