Feature Request - IGNORE

Please - PLEASE 

I really enjoy a healthy and vibrant forum. I moderated forums for decades. I definitely get it.  It’s fun. Even the occasional flame war keeps things interesting. 

But not having an IGNORE button for me for certain participants who can’t resist the giggles of repeatedly destroying ON TOPIC threads has crossed the line. 

Please switch the IGNORE USER button option on. 

Please.

If her name was really Blewyah she couldn't be ignored because she probably would have developed large pistol grip ears over time. You get someone like that in your car going down the highway with the windows open, they start flapping, you can't ignore that, especially if you're in charge of the windows.

I did not open the dmourati links but why do we need a button to ignore when all you have to do is scroll past?  Are we that dependent on "the system" to make choices?

@Ybabpmuts I readily admit that I will skim a number of your posts but that is my choice.  And some are pearls of great humour (nod) and insight.  Don't cave!

OP didn't name anyone.  If you think it's you, then you must think some people might be tired of some of your posts. You can change that or not.  Some people might block you and you won't know it, who cares.

and  why are we glorifying post counts. Get rid of them completely. Time on site is the only somewhat important metric but even that’s not really useful.

You're right I don't hate America. It's too big and I only have so much hate, so my hate would be spread too thin and might not make it to the people on the very outside. It makes much more sense for me to hate a much smaller country. I'm on the hunt map in hand...

@dmourati, I downloaded the pkg given in the first link, which included two files that looked like "Terminal" code for MacOS, the download button also promised a "README" instruction file, but that never arrived.  I've successfully loaded a couple Mac Extensions before but never a plugin; stumbling into Terminal without written instructions is a recipe for disaster for me (I'm called botch for a reason).  Any hints?
 
Otherwise, I'll futz with it a bit more and then delete everything, try the second link.  TIA!

@Botch I think it's meant to be applied to the vanilla forum, not your browser.  Buffalo has to do it.

i dont really see much problem, i can ignore when i want to. this goes back to the mid to late 80's when the millers designed their own forum before the bge funding and finally the big   takeover.  way before the nightmare called vanilla...cant blame the buffalo, he is a newbie in retrospect

Agreed. I've never found it difficult to ignore certain individuals, posts, or threads.

I do have sympathy tho for those folks that are apparently required to read every post/thread.

Different people process the forum in different ways.  I personally don't have any issues skipping past responses I want to ignore, but I can appreciate the utility of not even having to think twice.  Or if you simply wanted to block someone who was harassing you.

If it's an option in vanilla, why not provide it?  People can take it or leave it as needed.  Seems pretty easy to me.
