How many States have you been to? How many Countries?

This was inspired by another thread, but I think will be fun.

I've set foot in 47 different states (and DC); I don't think I've been to Vermont, and (very surprising for a USAF career guy) I've never been to Hawai'i, nor Alaska!  (they're on the list, however).
I've visited a dozen countries.  US, Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Italia, & Turkiye.
I'd really like to see Japan, S Korea, Costa Rica, and New Zealand someday, but I know in retirement I've gotten very timid (didn't help that COVID hit 6 weeks after I retired...).

48 states for me.  Only two missing are Alaska and Montana.

17 countries (that I can remember, lol):

    Austria
    Brazil
    Britain
    Canada
    France
    Germany
    India
    Israel
    Italy
    Japan
    Mexico
    New Zealand
    Pakistan
    South Korea
    Spain
    Switzerland
    US

I’d really like to get to both Ireland and Greece someday.

    40 states and 14 countries.

Although 2 of the states were just places where we drove through - or landed at the airport (Newark) and then drove to another state.

And one of the countries was England where we had a 14 hour layover so we left the airport and got on a double-decker bus to see London but we didn't actually spend the night there.

Here is a related thread from Oct 2020:

OT: How many states in the USA have you visited?

Tagged all 50 states before turning 50.  Many countries but no new ones since the covid lockdown of March 2020.  Did have to cancel a trip (thanks covid) that would have resulted in a few new spots.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

39 states and 12 countries.  Or maybe it's 38 and 13, New Jersey is a gray area for me.

Spent 3 summers in Maine as my grandfather worked as a councilor at a summer camp in Weld. Told my folks it would be an international experience.
