I have a big cigar box full of pocket knives. They're mostly Swiss Army, Buck, Schrade, and Barlow. For years my EDC was a small Swiss Army, but I managed to lose it last week. It's probably in a seat cushion or in my car. In order to not feel naked I dipped into the knife box for an old favorite. It's a Gerber Silver Knight I've had since the mid 1980s. I like the slim profile and locking blade. You can carry it wearing dress pants and it doesn't telegraph in the least.

Big plus on that Starrett ruler! One of my favorite tools.
I love Starrett. I have a couple of these 6" rules from my days as an Engineer working in Tool and Die. I found the Starrett Combo Square set below at an Estate auction. Cast Iron and Stainless. I think I paid $20.

I picked this up for my Dad for Father's Day. A Civivi Elementum utility knife. A knife you can abuse and not worry about. Plus it's fidget friendly.

no matter the monetary value, bugs me to no end!!

I hate that feeling. I have a 250 piece toolbox that ended up getting tipped over in the garage last fall. I've had this toolbox for 10 plus years and somehow haven't lost a single piece. I found all of them but two sockets after being tipped over. The one socket I found within the first few days after it went missing. The other socket I couldn't find was an oddball 5.5 metric socket that I couldn't replace under the Kluth brand. Most common sockets you can buy separately through Klutch but not a 5.5 metric socket. So I bought some other brand 1/4 drive 5.5 mm socket. Which worked but it bugged me knowing it wasn't the original socket that came with the set. It wasn't even a week ago I had to grab a big socket from the toolbox and something fell to the floor when removing the socket from the tray. I looked down and saw a small socket laying on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes. I think I may have even said, "No way" out loud. There it was. My 1/4 drive 5.5mm Kluth socket that has been missing for almost a year! I was sure happy to throw that mismatched 5.5mm socket into my spare socket box!
Great ending right there. I can fully understand your relief, as it sounds like you and I are very much on the same page.

Earlier this week, I had trouble finding two DESR shaving plates and was elated when I finally found where I put them. But I also have a brand new backup DESR that has been missing for years. I know it’s in the house; just not sure where. 🤷‍♂️
I hate when stuff goes missing.  It causes me all sorts of anxiety.  It isn’t about cost or anything either, it is just about the knowing.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

My Dad doesn't like big pocket knives but I wanted to find him something that was in a button lock besides the utility knife he has. I ended up ordering him CJRB Mica to fidget around with. I wasn't sold on the thumb studs when ordering it.

I came across this CJRB Mini Pyrite that came in titanium, fat carbon handles, and came in a S90V the day after ordering the Mica. I fortunately ordered the Mica through Amazon that will make an easy return. This one came in today.

The s 90v steel makes a great knife blade. An easy touch up once a year though is alot easier than letting it go a few years

I ordered my first CJRB a few months ago specifically for the S90V steel.   It also has the button lock and mine has a Bowie-style blade.   For the $ they’re nice knives.

Grabbed a Spyderco Para2 with CPM CruWear steel and Micarta handles.   Been on a Benchmade binge the last decade but wanted to get something with a touch more beef.

BM Bailout in pic as well.
