OT: be careful who you re-marry!

We have or I should say HAD a great next-door neighbor named Roger who was a retired Caterpillar engineer.  This was his second marriage and RoseMary was his third wife. Roger was always CHEERFUL and VERY POSITIVE!!!

RoseMary was (or had been) a real beauty queen, but after talking with her you quickly knew she was NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer!

Unfortunately last Saturday Roger fell in their garage and cut his head wide open!!! The emergency room nurse asked RoseMary if she knew Roger's blood type as they urgently needed to give him a blood transfusion due to all his loss of blood! You know, in order to save Roger’s life.

RoseMary said...I have never known his blood type, and didn't even know who to ask so I just sat there saying goodbye to him...

I will always remember how great Roger was!  Even as he laid there fading away he kept whispering be positive - be positive...

….And why the reference to “re-marry” in the title? Is it supposed to read “third marriage” and “second wife”, implying they married twice? Even then, I don’t get its relation to the punchline. 

Am I just dense, or is part of the joke missing?

Gave me a good laugh despite my many questions and overthinking.

Could be either way. I have a relative that has been married 6 times to 5 different spouses.

Thanks,  John...I had not given my subject line enough thought before I posted it last night. Some joke stories just don't need to be taken apart word for word, even if the subject line is misleading - as mine was!

It’s a great joke and my thoughts were not intended as a criticism of it, Ron. Frankly, I figured it was just a copy and paste from another source and was curious as to what I may have missed. Thought I’d canvass opinions. No foul intended.
