This stack (minus having eaten some "tests" is 19 dozen.
6 hours making and baking and 2 hours clean up. Hope to make some friends happy again with my sharing. BTW this has been a Pratt family tradition my Mother started in 1951 and I took over in the 1980's when she no longer could.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS...my cyber egger friends!!!

I was wondering if anyone was going to post any baking or cookies soon. I’m planning to egg 3 racks of ribs on Friday, I’m going to experiment with some rub layering. Then this weekend my daughter and I will begin our Christmas cookie baking. Yours look deliciousXL BGE

Mrs Pratt’s HOLIDAY BILLY GOATS
From a recipe in the Kansas City Star in 1950 – though slightly modified
1 cup margarine (I prefer original ICBINB in stick form – real butter just doesn’t work in this recipe for some reason)
1 cup sugar
2 whole eggs
1 t vanilla
2½ cups sifted all purpose flour
1 t baking soda
1/8 t salt
1 t ground cinnamon
1/4 t ground cloves
2 T sour milk
2.5 cups chopped walnuts
1 lb. Sunsweet chopped dates
Cream margarine and sugar well; add vanilla plus eggs one at a time and beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 or 3 minutes until light and fluffy.Sift flour, soda, salt, and spices and mix thoroughly while still dry. Add dry ingredients to egg & sugar mixture along with the sour milk. (If you don’t have any sour milk, add 1 t vinegar to 2 T of milk and mix; then use 2 T of that.) Blend well. Add walnuts and dates and mix well by hand as this is really stiff and you want to keep from pulverizing the nuts. Drop cookie mixture by teaspoonfuls on to a greased cookie sheet (take a stick of butter and merely rub it on the cookie sheet). Bake at 300 degrees for 16 minutes. Texture will be chewy and NOT crunchy!
Yield: 8 to 9 dozen cookiesStorage hint: These cookies will stay moist and chewy for many days if you just store them in a tightly sealed container like a Tupperware and place a piece of fresh bread inside every other day. The cookies extract the moisture from the bread and surprisingly will make the bread as hard as Melba toast!

If you omit the nuts, would they be nanny goats?

Thanks...while I had checked the "24 likes" just to show my wife earlier today I now see "someone in power here" must have hated cookies or my 24 count and cut my THREAD popularity count back to 12! KINDA strange way to run a thread in my way of running a forum ...

I thought I was doing well. I made a batch of eight dozen molasses sugar cookies. I am getting ready to do another eight dozen batch. My mother made these from the time I can remember and I had never seen them anywhere before, but the recipe surfaced on this forum a while back. Anyway, everyone I give them to thinks they are unique and delicious.
That is eight dozen PLUS the QC samples!!!XL BGE in San Jose, CA. Also a Pit Barrel Cooker, a Cal Flame P4 gasser, and lots of toys including the first ever Flame Boss 300 in the wild. And a new Flame Boss 500.
