Found this post from 2016 requesting that CGS make a rotisserie, with an accurate prediction from @westernbbq ...
Ill fabricate my own before i overpay for a joetisserie.  iF bge got around to development of it and announce that they had rotisserie setup for bge, theyll announce it and then tease us with release dates for about a year, and then itll be an overpriced item in the 300-400 range

Please, Tom for the sanity of ceramic grillers everywhere, make a ring, spit and motor setup for all sizes of eggs and you will not be able to keep up with demand

I promise to do my part!

    https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1201754/attn-tom-at-cgs-please-make-rotisserie-setup-for-bge
Oh man, that rotisserie set-up was a long, long time ago, even pre kamado joe rotisserie. Back then, I thought about making them but we were just getting going and it was really outside our wheelhouse.

Biggest thing I found with spinning is no so much moving fire to the side but how close the food gets to the fire along the bottom turn.

Ok, so they are a little more expensive, but they have an etched aluminum Big Green Egg logo plate.

I don't like how on that flat basket is has that gigantic name plate blocking the fish.  Put a big piece of salmon or a rack of ribs in it and you're gonna have a 6x2" rectangle in the middle shielded from the heat??  First order of business, cut that stupid thing out with some tin snips!!

I was so delirious with retail glee at the thought of having a BGE rotisserie that I failed to even finish the video and look at the optional baskets!  I must have been passing in and out of consciousness!

Weber would have labeled that name plate a "flavorizer" plate.

I also noticed that the "porn-motional" video above didn't have the lump diverted in any way.   Just spinning the protein directly over a bed of hot coals.

I think the pizza wedge is out too, price $119.95 for large, not sure about others.

looks to be a two piece cast aluminum wedge shape frame with opening in front. You'll need a rack to hold the stone(s) near felt line. 14" wide pizza is max.

Anyone have anymore info on this pizza wedge? I went searching and just keep finding the aftermarket porta pizza thing.

Will you be listing the pizza thingy on your website? Would be great to see some pics of it.

I wonder if the composite handle is required for the pizza wedge?  I have never seen a handle like that!

Unsure about composite. On my classic Kj with the DoJoe I melted the handle on one of my first goes with it…. Looking at the above without the heat deflector wing that the DoJoe has unsure if that will be better or worse for the heat the handle gets subjected too

the DoJoe is limited to 700, go above and you can melt the handle, destroy your gaskets (the metal gets heat soaked and is heavy and that tends to unglue the gasket if not flatten them from their OEM bounce) so will be interesting to see how this works

it would have been nice if they added a door for shutting down the egg without burning the rest of your fuel

The more I look at it, does it appear that handle sticks out further from the egg?  Maybe it is just because the silicone(?) handle is thinner, but it seems that handle is extended out.

Anyway, I hadn't thought about gaskets or shutdown.  Good comment @unoriginalusername!

Does the hinge need to be adjusted to fit that rotissarie? I get the angle, that it needs to be that way to make the front close tight ... but what about the extra gap that is needed at the back to accomodate the ring?

Wow I would hope not as that would make for constant changing if you went back and forth between regular cooks and tisserie….   But good question!

Not at all. Because of the angle of the dome closing, it seals front and back. No adjustment necessary.

The rotisserie has dropped over here too.

    For comparison purposes and certainly not bringing any judgment;
Large BGE rotisserie £275 or £500 for the roasting pack
Joetisseries that might or might not fit a Large BGE £253
LetzQ Spit that might or might not fit a Large BGE £230

Having just received a genuine set of BGE Salt and Pepper pots you know  where my allegiances lie.

What comes in the "roasting pack"?  At nearly double, I am trying to imagine what it includes!

The LetzQ fits the large perfectly I have one. Also the motor is on the left and the spit handle on the right. As I’m right handed I’m happy with my one. I thought the large LetzQ was £200 though.

How much is that in "American"?

Do I multiply by 5/9 and add 32 or subtract?

  • Will this work with a rutland gasket?  Maybe just add a felt gasket to the top of the rotisserie?

Absolutely. I have a single Rutland on the bottom. I get a little air gap leak, but not enough to make any real difference. Especially since most rotisserie cooks are pretty hot and fast. And if you get more leak, yes, add a felt gasket to the rotisserie.

I would say any extra gasket is completely unnecessary. There is a big opening on the side where the spit connects to the motor, which is far more leakage opportunity than any tiny gasket gap.

BGE Rotisserie secured!  I will provide my thoughts after the holiday, once I can stand the thought of cooking more poultry.  My sister asked that I not experiment with it for the holiday bird.

Maybe I will spin a steak instead...

Can you turn the ring upside down, to change the side the motor is on?

Just ordered my BGE large rotisserie.  Will ship out tomorrow.  Got it from the Ceramic Grill Store…. Always seem to have what I need at the right time at that store and all around really friendly people there!!!
  • I have been thinking seriously about buying one of these but I want to know that both the BGE and the KJ versions are waterproof before I do so.  Does anyone know if they are waterproof or just water-resistant?
