On this date 49 years ago Nixon resigned the presidency in disgrace.  Somewhere he is thanking CHEETO for some salvation.

"District Judge Tanya Chutkan, overseeing former President Trump’s election fraud case, has set Friday for hearing arguments about what evidence can be publicly disclosed. Before Chutkan made her order, Trump told a crowd at a rally in New Hampshire that “I will talk about it. I will. They’re not taking away my First Amendment rights.” Daniel Barnes and Dareh Gregorian report for NBC News.

Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis is expected to seek indictments from a grand jury next week in relation to former President Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. Almost 20 people are known to have been told that they could face charges. Danny Hakim and Richard Fausset report for the New York Times."

But here is more on the Constitution and CHEETO:
"Former President Trump is ineligible to be president because the Constitution bars people who have engaged in an insurrection from holding government office, conservative professors William Baude and Michael Stokes Paulsen concluded in an article. “Trump can only hold office if two-thirds of Congress grant him amnesty for his conduct on Jan. 6,” Baude said. Their findings may encourage lawsuits from presidential candidates and ordinary voters arguing that the Constitution makes Trump ineligible for office. Adam Liptak reports for the New York Times. "

And today from the Washington Post-

    Opinion

Trump says, ‘I’m coming after you.’ We should take him at his word.

    Some campaign rhetoric:
"Donald Trump said he would balance the budget because he was a "businessman"...But at the end of the day, he increased the national debt by $6 trillion.

This shouldn't have been a surprise, especially from someone who went bankrupt three different times running casinos in Atlantic City. Who loses money in the casino business? Trump that's who.

Two things are true, we can't trust Trump with our country or with casinos.

Trump might be the only person to ever not make money running a casino - in his case, the house CAN'T win!

Substitute CHEETO and away we go!

District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan has permitted former President Trump to discuss evidence gathered in the Jan. 6 case but blocked the sharing of sensitive discovery such as witnesses’ testimony. “Mr. Trump, like every American, has a First Amendment right to free speech, but that right is not absolute. In a criminal case such as this one, a defendant’s free speech is subject to release conditions […] and must yield to the orderly administration of justice,” Chutkan said. Rebecca Beitsch and Zach Schonfeld report for The Hill

Georgia prosecutors investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election results have text messages and emails directly linking former President Trump’s legal team members to the January 2021 voting system breach in Coffee County. Trump allies attempted to access voting systems as part of the broader effort to produce evidence that could strengthen Trump’s baseless claims of widespread fraud. Zachary Cohen and Sara Murray report for CNN

Some more from the former GA Lt Governor-

    Opinion

I testified in the Georgia probe. I hope Trump’s indictment is a pivot point.

He’s obviously been brainwashed by George Soros, just like the other hundred or so Republicans who are witnesses for one of the three prosecutors.

CHEETO is becoming even more unhinged as he loses control of the narrative.
Recently said by John Kelly, "
Jun 14, 2023 — “He's scared shitless,” John Kelly, the chief of staff from 2017 to 2019, told The Washington Post on Tuesday."
And a bit about John Kelly-
"John Kelly is a retired four-star Marine general and former commander of U.S. Southern Command. He served as the White House chief of staff in President Donald Trump's (R) administration from July 2017 to December 2018. On December 8, 2018, Trump announced that Kelly would leave the position at the end of the year."
One of smart people CHEETO brought in and became dumb during his tenure at the clown show according to CHEETO.

"The names and addresses of members of the Georgia grand jury that indicted former President Trump and his allies on racketeering charges have been posted online by Trump supporters. The Fulton County sheriff’s office said yesterday that it is working with law enforcement partners to respond quickly to credible threats. Blayne Alexander and Ryan J. Reilly report for NBC News.

Former President Trump yesterday called off a press conference at which he intended to present a report that would lead to his “complete EXONERATION” in the Georgia election interference case. His lawyers will instead use the materials of the report in court filings, Trump said. On Monday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) said, “For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward — under oath — and prove anything in a court of law.” Rebecca Falconer reports for Axios

Lawyers for former President Trump have asked District Judge Tanya Chutkan to hold his trial concerning his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election in April 2026. His lawyers argued yesterday that preparing a defense would take them years. Spencer S. Hsu reports for the Washington Post

District Judge Aileen Cannon canceled a hearing planned for Aug. 25 on a protective order for classified evidence in the Mar-a-Lago documents case. The proceeding will take place under seal at a different time. Yet experts on the Classified Information Procedures Act have said that even though many steps laid out by the law usually happen secretly, some proceedings can take place at least partially in public view. In this case, the proceedings have so far been less accessible than the other cases against former President Trump. Tierney Sneed reports for CNN. "

You have to love Trump bragging about his “extremely High Intelligence” while simultaneously randomly capitalizing various words, such as High and Intelligence.

    From Politico today-

"While we often point out that making the debate stage is the most important hurdle for any Republican aspirant running in the primaries, hosting a presidential primary debate is enormously important to television networks. But for the Murdoch empire, beset by upstart rivals, it is existential.

RUPERT MURDOCH and DONALD TRUMP are the two most important sources of information for Republican voters, and in the last eight years they have waged war for supremacy. Sometimes they use each other (Trump gets airtime, Fox gets ratings), sometimes they are closely aligned (as in a general election against the Democrats), and sometimes they are openly hostile to one another (during primary season in 2015-2016 and again today when Fox and other Murdoch entities search for an alternative to Trump).

As with other power centers of the modern GOP that have not fully embraced MAGA, such as the Senate Republican leadership, Trump is again attacking Fox News with the same fury — and weird specificity — that he usually reserves for political rivals.

    Here’s Trump on Thursday:

“Why doesn’t Fox and Friends show all of the Polls where I am beating Biden, by a lot. They just won’t do it! Also, they purposely show the absolutely worst pictures of me, especially the big ‘orange’ one with my chin pulled way back. They think they are getting away with something, they’re not. Just like 2016 all over again…And then they want me to debate!”

Trump’s apparent decision to skip the debate and instead do an interview with the ousted Fox host TUCKER CARLSON — who was the most pro-MAGA personality on the network even if he personally despises Trump himself — has to be seen in the context of this Murdoch-Trump war.

Trump’s intention is not just to upstage the other candidates. His intention is to damage Fox in the one metric that Murdoch and Trump both understand best: ratings.

Right on cue, another round of reports emerged this week that Murdoch is still searching for an alternative to Trump. After reportedly souring on DeSantis, Murdoch has turned his attention to someone new, the WaPo’s Laura Vozzella, Sarah Ellison and Maeve Reston report:

“Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has repeatedly encouraged Virginia Gov. GLENN YOUNGKIN (R) to run for president in 2024, according to two people familiar with entreaties made in at least two face-to-face meetings.

“The previously unreported meetings took place months ago, but Murdoch’s ask has taken on fresh relevance as Youngkin continues to lay the groundwork for a potential last-minute White House bid and as Murdoch outlets hyped his presidential prospects this month with a mix of sober Wall Street Journal analysis and buzzy Page Six blurbs.”"

One of the sources I follow brought up this interesting observation.

As of right now traitor will not be attending the Faux-televised first repub debate, but rather will broadcast a one-on-one interview with tucker carlson on his "channel", whatever that is.  traitor cannot win this election without flipping a bunch of Independent votes, and he should know that.  And if he televises a separate interview with tucker's "channel" vs, say, CBS, who is going to watch it?  Only his MAGA cult, certainly not Independent voters; throwing away any chance of changing any minds/votes.

So, why IS he doing it?  Two reasons were postulated:
1 - he knows he has no chance, and his legal fund is basically broke, and the only folks who'd send him more money at this point are his cult followers; is he grifting as much as he can before the inevitable happens?  Or,
2 - he's hoping to stir up enough rage to relive Jan 6 (with the added, and larger, danger of heavily-armed "observers" at voting spots throughout the US, especially in ethnic/"librul" areas?

Yeah, we live in Interesting Times.

EDIT:  Oh, and I thought the RNC set down a few rules about being included in the primary debates, one of which required the candidates to sign a pledge to support the eventual candidate, no matter who it was.  Did that fall by the wayside?

@Botch- My vote is #1 above as he is toast. His narcissism (and small hands) and loser track record along with the mounting legal bills means he has got to grab for all he can get while the window is open.
Regarding #2- I really don't think there is much (any?) chance of that happening as those who were leading the charge on Jan 6th are getting hammered by the courts.  But you can't fix stupid.
Edit regarding the pledge question from @Botch -As of yesterday it was still alive and kicking.  However, politicians will say one thing and do something else so it's not worth anything other than "I told you so" points.
BTW- CHEETO has not committed to honoring the pledge-like that's a surprise...

I sincerely hope you're right, but judges/voting officials/lawyers/grand jurors are receiving death threats throughout the South, and one TX woman arrested and one UT jerk shot/killed by the FBI... and the election is still fifteen months away.   :|
