Hopefully the voters in 2024 will force a reboot of the GOP.
For now tho, they'd probably be better off just letting the little guy remain Speaker - he really knows how to bang a gavel!

I'm wondering...
mccarthy is a snake and a liar, but he did cross the aisle to extend gov't funding for 6 weeks. Will his replacement be willing to do so, in less than six weeks? Will his replacement even be confirmed by then?___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

Its not on their website yet (I'll post it if/when it is) but CBS News reported tonight that WalMart data collecting figured out that customers who are now taking Ozempic for weight loss (it was originally marketed for diabetics, who are having trouble getting it in some locations), these weight-loss fans are actually buying quite a bit less "snack" food, apparently the drug makes sweets less desirable. The snack industry is not happy, and apparently the airline industry is, because the weight losses are enough that their weight loads are being reduced (!!).
I was only half-paying attention when the story played, want to read it more carefully when it is published. A possible "clash of various oligarchies" may be in the works, and it could be very entertaining/enlightening.___________"When small men begin to cast big shadows, it means that the sun is about to set."

I usually watch CBS News every morning, couldn't this morning as something in my cloud DVR chain keeps screwing up, don't know if its the new Sony TV, its built-in "Google TV" interface, or my "EweTube TV" 'net service that allows me to get local channels. Anyway, I missed it this morning.
But Ewetube itself had a clip of R. Maddow and her new book Prequel from this morning's show, so I clicked on it. It was about a pro-nazi group called the "silver shirts" in the US in the late '30's, who were planning to assassinate a bunch of American Jews and install a fascist regime, and joining Germany, not the Allies, in WWII. Just like the aerial bombing of black Wall Street in Tulsa, the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, I'd not been taught any of this in high school, and just learned about the "silver shirts" this morning (at 63...). (this is why I get testy when learning about book bannings and curriculum restrictions from white, republican "parents" recently).
Anyway, here's the video, and the parallels between the silver shirts before WWII, and what's happening in the US in the last 8 years or so, was pretty enlightening/frightening.

Sure seems like some of the folks so eager to ban certain books could use a little help learning how to read."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -

I’m pretty sure most of the books that paint people who ban books in a bad light are also banned….they don’t want the kids to get the right impression.______________________________________________I love lamp..

If they do pick Gym Jordan as Head Clown will he start wearing his suit jacket again or will he keep his shirtsleeves schtick going? Asking the important questions!

This is rather disheartening. There just has to be something in the air or water that has caused so many folks to move society closer and closer to idiocracy over the last decade or so.
