I have invested heavily to celebrate this day. I have even purchased Foghorn’s secret ingredients for world championship wings.

Preparing to be amazed, something along those lines.

I looked today.  Choice Brisket $3.96 per pound at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart frozen wings (cheapest they had) $4.36 per pound.

I wish my 10 were individually flash frozen, I would thaw 5 and save 5.

Easy enough to fix: just pick up a frozen pair and pullet.

In my small town, the early Walmart trip has been the secret for me. I always buy fresh and have found them in the low $2/lb range.  Fast approaching the $3 mark however.  I'll stock up for that weekend.

I'd rather have a leg anyway. Easier choice when they are a third less per lb now

The local HyVee has whole chickens for $0.79 / pound tomorrow.  Anyone know the percentage weight of two chicken wings to the whole chicken?

Let's say the bird is 4 pounds, that's $3.16 for four wings and a bunch of other chicken parts.  Do the wings weigh a pound?  Probably not.

I might stock up, and just keep the wings....

Enter the competition anyway, hit the "Zoom Out" button on your eyePhone, and call them "drumettes"; you'll be golden.
My current package had 8 full wings (including tips, saved for stock) and it was only $7.03.  Like Gas, housing, and especially retail, prices are falling right now, but you have to go out and look.

  • I haven’t even looked at wings as of late. The velvet rope around the display case and the anti-theft devices on the packages tell me they are a rare luxury.

  • Was mindful of this thread when I ordered wings at a pub last night. Ordered the “suicide” wings with a side of blue cheese dressing. Out came a tiny plate with about seven mushy wings, one celery stick and two misshapen carrot sticks sitting in a puddle of water. The highlight, in all honesty, was the celery stick, which was fresh, crisp and flavourful when assessed against the rest of the plate. $19. This was the saddest way to highlight the occasion I can imagine.

Always disappointed when eating at restaurants now. We went to Bâton Rouge (restaurant) a couple of weeks ago and I was super excited to get their baby back ribs (which used to be a golden reference) and I can say that my Instant Pot ribs are much much better!  So disappointed!  After years of not going out because of covid I guess things just got worst!

I will look for wings tomorrow!

I wanted to get fresh wings from a local farm (they are huge!) but the road to get there is closed so I just wasted an hour driving around.  Plan B - heading to the supermarket now 🤦‍♂️

@paqman - your dedication will be rewarded.  BTW- what caused the road closure?

I am a big flats consumer.  Best part of the hyper-inflated wing prices today or any day.  About to fire up the BGE and get with the program.
@Langner91 strong showing right there.  Great colour (nod).

$2.79/lb at Sam's fresh. After separating them I had 36 wing sections for a little over $18
