Costco was out. Maybe some tomorrow. I grabbed chuck roast instead. A two pack or roasts at least 3 inches thick. Good price. We froze one and will do the other Texas style this weekend. It’s just the two of us. There will be plenty

Opening post May 1st.  I am glad that many are getting into the event now and encourage continued enjoyment of brisket cooks.  Once a year merits the celebration.
That said,  the solution to the "find one challenge" is to have one always in stock in the "ready brisket locker."
You can thank me next year. 😁

I've got half a brisket on and a rack of ribs.  Definitely having some corn, and probably slaw.  Not sure what else..

I am interested in the half-brisket.  Packer cut length-wise or loping off the flat or something else?

"it's stupid to tell the cow your plans"

I always tell the cow my plans, especially if I'm going out hiking alone. I choose to tell the cow over telling people in my life, because people come and go, and my cow is a constant. Also, if I'm suddenly not around, most people around me can get their own food, but my cow is totally dependent on me for everything, so I tell it my plans hoping that it figures out it needs to start eating more like the people around me,  so if I'm gone, it can get it's own food. It hasn't caught on yet, but then I don't go on a lot of hikes anyway and we all know that cows learn the most from repetition. The truth is I don't even like hiking, I'm only doing the whole thing just to get my cow to eat more like people, because I'm sick and tired of making two different dinners all the time. It gets so tiring and I only have so many plates.

@kl8ton - way to audibilize right there.  The cow was seeking revenge after hearing that you thoughtt my monster brisket would finish in 8 hours.   B)

So you disagree with those that say: “don’t have a cow, (hu)man”?

"So you disagree with those that say: “don’t have a cow, (hu)man"

I try not to disagree with anybody when it comes to having cows. This is because inevitably the discussion will come around to how to train a cow, and I know that my own training methods of going on hikes that I don't like, just to train my cow to eat more like a human, preparing it for a time I might not come back from the said hike, will fall under great scrutiny. Its hard to defend I know, but the truth is I didn't go right to the hike first. The first thing I did was hide in a closet for two days and the cow did nothing. Then I dressed like a cow and walked out in the pasture with a cow sized plate of the best salad I could find and still it did nothing. I was really frustrated till one day I walked by the pen with a hobo stick and noticed the cow watch me the whole way. That's when the whole hike thing clicked.

It's hard to describe all that to a guy who just casually says .. don't have a cow man.
